Attending and speaking at a seminar with major US businesses held on the afternoon of September 23 (local time) in New York, the US, General Secretary and President To Lam hoped that US businesses would continue to strive to become the largest investors in Vietnam, promoting advantages and taking advantage of opportunities based on an equal relationship, mutual respect and mutual benefit. The General Secretary and President also hoped that US investors would continue to support the US Government to soon recognize Vietnam as a market economy, thereby creating favorable conditions for businesses of both sides to cooperate in investment and business.
On the same day, September 23, General Secretary and President To Lam had meetings with former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and a number of technology businesses as well as leading investment funds in the US and the world.
Apple Vice President Nick Ammann assessed that Vietnam is not only a great market for the group but also a production base for Apple to supply its goods to the world. Mr. Nick Ammann highly appreciated the investment prospects in Vietnam, as well as the value of the Vietnamese market in the global strategy and the potential to participate more deeply in the supply chain of the group's important products.
Meta’s President of Global External Affairs, Nick Clegg, shared plans to increase production in Vietnam for Metaverse virtual reality glasses, the group’s latest spearhead. Meta’s leadership also pledged to continue supporting and expanding investment programs and encouraging innovation in Vietnam in the future.
Mr. Wally Liaw - Senior Vice President of Business Development at Supermicro - said that Vietnam is a market with great potential, especially with Vietnam's policies to encourage the development of high-tech fields. He highly appreciated the development and investment opportunities in Vietnam, and committed to continue cooperating with Vietnam to support customers in particular and Vietnam in general in developing AI.
Mr. Stephen Schwarzman - Chairman and CEO of Blackstone Investment Fund - expressed his desire to expand investment in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Mr. Jake Siewert - CEO of Warburg Pincus expressed his desire to learn and continue to invest more in Vietnam as well as expressed his interest in cooperation to attract green financial capital, Power Plan 8, renewable energy... in Vietnam.
Mr. Eric Schmidt - former Chairman and CEO of Google Corporation - expressed that Vietnam can completely become the software center of Asia. According to Mr. Schmidt's perspective, the most optimal thing for Vietnam is to establish software companies specializing in AI. He believes that Vietnam is fully capable of participating in the high-end segment, using AI to solve big problems in the fields of education, health or environment. He expressed his hope that the establishment of these software companies will be included in Vietnam's development strategy and committed to bringing capital from the US to these companies.
