On the occasion of attending the Opening Meeting of the Council for Peace on Gaza, on the afternoon of February 20 (local time), General Secretary To Lam received Mr. Kurt M. Campbell, former US Deputy Secretary of State.
At the reception, General Secretary To Lam shared Vietnam's major orientations in the new development stage, emphasizing the vision and strategic goals of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (14th Party Congress), in which priority is given to perfecting institutions, promoting growth, developing science and technology, innovation, digital economy, green economy, and continuing to integrate internationally deeply, practically and effectively.
General Secretary To Lam welcomed and highly appreciated the role and positive contributions of Mr. Kurt Campbell in promoting Vietnam-US relations over the years. The General Secretary affirmed Vietnam's consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, actively and responsibly participating in solving common regional and international issues.
General Secretary To Lam requested Mr. Kurt Campbell to continue to promote the role of a reliable bridge between Vietnam and the US, the business community and international partners, thereby promoting policy dialogue; providing strategic analysis of global economic, technology and policy trends; strengthening the connection between US businesses and strategic investors with Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities, especially in the fields of high technology, finance, digital infrastructure and clean energy; encouraging US businesses to expand cooperation and investment in Vietnam associated with improving management standards and market transparency; and at the same time summarize and promptly reflect the constructive proposals of the business community from the early stages of policy making, contributing to improving the feasibility and effectiveness of cooperation between the state and investors.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the success of investors is the success of Vietnam; affirmed that Vietnam is committed to continuing to improve the investment environment, maintain political and social stability, improve institutional quality and create the most favorable conditions for international businesses to develop long-term, effectively and sustainably. Vietnam wishes to cooperate more deeply with the international business community, sharing responsibilities and benefits in sustainable development.
Mr. Kurt Campbell respectfully thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to receive him; congratulated the success of the 14th Party Congress and congratulated the General Secretary on being re-elected as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He highly appreciated General Secretary To Lam's visit to the United States, saying that the visit and Vietnam's participation in the Gaza Peace Council clearly demonstrate Vietnam's proactive, responsible role and substantive contribution to peace, stability and international cooperation.
Mr. Kurt Campbell expressed deep impression of the vision, development goals and major orientations set out at the 14th Party Congress, saying that this is an important foundation for Vietnam to continue to maintain stability, rapid and sustainable development in the coming time. He said that the business community and US partners highly appreciate Vietnam's investment environment, consider Vietnam a strategic destination in the global supply chain and innovation, and affirmed his willingness to continue to accompany and support promoting economic cooperation, investment and business connection between the two countries.
