Dangers on the "no gunfire front
The Vietnam People's Army (VPA), the core force in the cause of fighting to protect the Fatherland, placed under the absolute and direct leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in all aspects and has achieved many feats of arms, writing down the heroic tradition of "Determined to fight, determined to win" in the nation's history. However, hostile, reactionary, and political opportunistic forces always find every way to increase activities to sabotage the revolutionary cause of the Party and the VPA.
With the characteristics of instant information spread, multi-dimensional interaction, anonymity and cross-border scope of influence, cyberspace has truly become a "shootout-free front".
Hostile and reactionary forces have constantly innovated methods and tricks, taking full advantage of social network platforms, blogs, websites... to spread bad and toxic information and wrong views. They implement the "Peaceful Evolution" strategy - a non-armed method to transform the political regime from within, with the focus on attacking the ideological foundation of the Communist Party. Their deep-seated goal is to weaken and move towards eliminating the Party's leadership role, causing socio-political instability, deviating from the path to socialism that the Communist Party of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh and our people have chosen. Those false arguments need to be identified and fought strongly.
Identifying sophisticated tricks
One argument that hostile forces often use is distortion of history, denial of revolutionary achievements. They deliberately distort the heroic history of the nation and the Army, belittle or deny the blood and bone sacrifices of previous generations in the resistance wars for independence, freedom and national defense.
President Ho Chi Minh taught about respecting history, "Our people must know our history, to understand the origins of Vietnam"[1].
Denying the past of hostile forces is aimed at instilling and erasing national pride, fading revolutionary ideals.
Another trick that hostile forces often use is to put articles and rumors to undermine the nature and tradition of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers". They focus on smearing and distorting the revolutionary nature of the Army - an Army from the People, fighting for the People. They deny the good tradition of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" under the education and training of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, with core qualities "Loyal to the Party, filial to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism. Any task is completed, any difficulty is overcome, any enemy is defeated"[2].
In the context of technology explosion, hostile forces still often use tricks such as spreading fake news, defaming the prestige of the People's Army. Through creating and spreading false stories, images, clipped videos, and even using deepfake technology, they aim to defame the prestige and honor of the Army, officers and soldiers, causing confusion and reducing the people's trust in the Army.
An extremely dangerous false argument that hostile forces often spread and imposed is the demand for "de-politicization" of the Army: This is a particularly dangerous argument, the core of the conspiracy to sabotage the Army. Their conspiracy to "separate the Army from the Party's leadership" is actually aimed at eliminating the absolute and direct leadership of the Party over the Army in all aspects.
This is completely contrary to the basic and core principles of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's ideology on building a new type of army of the working class; President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: "Our army has invincible strength because it is a People's Army built by our Party, led and educated by our Party"[3]. "Politization" will make the Army lose direction, becoming a tool for reactionary forces.
The tactics of hostile forces are increasingly sophisticated and cunning. They not only simply post false information but also use high technology to create fake news, fake videos, and carry out targeted cyber attacks on command and operational systems and databases. They operate under many sophisticated covers, disguised as "Democracy", "Human Rights", "Freedom of Speech", taking advantage of disguised forums and groups to gather forces and carry out sabotage intentions. Therefore, this struggle requires vigilance, firm political bravery, sensitivity in identifying and fighting back, based on a solid foundation of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's ideology, and constantly innovating the content and methods of struggle to suit the reality of cyberspace.
