On May 2nd, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae witnessed the handover ceremony of cooperation documents between the two countries and met with the press to inform about the results of the talks.
Speaking at the press conference, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung said that within the framework of the visit, the two sides signed 6 important documents in the fields of aerospace technology, information - communication, irrigation, infrastructure development adapted to natural disasters, climate change and carbon growth.
The agreement between the two sides to approve the Priority List of cooperation contents in the fields of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and economic security is an important basis to promote the implementation of specific cooperation projects in the coming time.
At the talks, the two sides agreed on major orientations to bring the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into a new stage of development with specific results, including strengthening economic cooperation including economic security, energy security and sustainable agriculture. The two sides agreed on measures to soon bring Japanese investment into Vietnam to reach 5 billion USD/year and bilateral trade turnover to reach 60 billion USD by 2030.
The two sides also agreed to soon implement cooperation projects within the framework of the Power Asia Initiative to support Asian countries in energy self-sufficiency, under which Japan will support arranging crude oil supply for the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant.
The Prime Minister welcomed the announcement by the two sides of co-financing 15 Vietnam-Japan joint research projects on semiconductors in the NEXUS program, and thanked Japan for supporting Vietnam in implementing the Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice in the Mekong Delta.

Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae expressed that Vietnam, as Hanoi's other name is Thang Long, meaning "dragon flying up", is developing at an extremely impressive pace in recent years. With the role of an important link in the supply chain, many Japanese businesses have expanded investment in Vietnam.
The Japanese Prime Minister affirmed that strengthening cooperation with Vietnam is of utmost importance for the realization and development of the Free and Open Indo-Pacific Initiative (FOIP) and affirmed that this is the reason the Prime Minister made this visit to Vietnam.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to promote cooperation to jointly build Japan, Vietnam and the Indo-Pacific region to become increasingly strong and prosperous.
In the economic field, the two sides agreed to identify a new priority area in bilateral cooperation as economic security, including: energy, important minerals, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors and space.... In particular, to respond to the Middle East situation, the two sides agreed to consider NEXI (Japan Export and Investment Insurance Corporation) supporting crude oil import activities for the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant, with the meaning of being the first project within the framework of the "Power Asia" initiative initiated by the Japanese Prime Minister recently.
For important minerals, the two sides agreed to strengthen close coordination to ensure stable supply and consolidate the supply chain.
