Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae begins official visit to Vietnam

In the late afternoon of May 1st, Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae arrived in Hanoi, beginning his official visit to Vietnam from March 1st.

The official visit to Vietnam by Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae took place at the invitation of Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.

Welcoming the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were: Minister, Chairman of the Government Office Dang Xuan Phong; Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu; Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government Office.

Accompanying Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae on his official visit to Vietnam were: Mr. Sato Kei - Deputy Chief of the Cabinet Office; Mr. Ichikawa Keiichi - Secretary General of the National Security Committee; Mr. Uno Yoshimasa - Assistant Prime Minister; Mr. Iijima Isao - Special Advisor to the Cabinet Office; Mr. Ito Naoki - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam; Mr. Saiki Kozo - Secretary in charge of Public Relations; Mr. Iida Yuji - Secretary of the Prime Minister; Mr. Namazu Hiroyuki - Deputy Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Matsuo Takehiko - Deputy Minister, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; Mr. Watanabe Yoichi - Deputy Minister, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Mr. Terada Yoshimichi - Deputy Minister, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism; Mr. Kano Koji - Deputy Minister, Ministry of Defense; Mr. Imagawa Takuo - Deputy Minister, Ministry of Interior and Communications.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu, this visit is of utmost importance, vividly showing Japan's high appreciation for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Japan as both countries are entering a new stage of development together.

Emphasizing that Vietnam is the first country in the region that Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae visited after being re-elected as Prime Minister of Japan in February, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu said that this is an opportunity for the two sides to continue to consolidate political trust, strengthen strategic exchanges at the high level, and at the same time create new momentum for bilateral cooperation to become increasingly in-depth, substantive and effective.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki said that this is the second time Prime Minister Takaichi has visited Vietnam, but the previous time was in 2020, when she was still Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan.

This will be an opportunity to affirm the strengthening of coordination in bilateral relations based on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) framework, as well as in responding to regional and international community issues.

Many high-level talks will be held for the two sides to exchange views on energy, ensuring economic security, rare earths, people-to-people exchanges, and academics between the two countries...
