The steadfast communist soldier
According to documents of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, in his twenties, comrade Pham Van Dong was early enlightened about revolutionary ideals, learned about leader Nguyen Ai Quoc and learned about his revolutionary ideology through books and newspapers disseminated into Vietnam at that time such as: "People in Distress", "Humanity", "International Letters Magazine"...
In 1926, Comrade Pham Van Dong became a student of Him in the first cadre training classes of the Vietnamese revolution. This was a turning point in the revolutionary life of the comrade. The revolutionary will, communist ideals and patriotism of leader Nguyen Ai Quoc deeply influenced the feelings and ideals of Comrade Pham Van Dong, from a patriotic young man, he became a true revolutionary soldier.
The years of secret activities full of danger, the fierce hunting of the enemy, nearly 7 years of challenges in imperialist-colonial prisons and the deprivations and fierceness of the war could not shake the will of that communist soldier. Comrade always overcame all difficulties and dangers, bringing all his enthusiasm, talent and intelligence to contribute to the revolution with faith in the bright future of the revolutionary path he had chosen.
After the August Revolution of 1945 was successful, he was appointed Minister of Finance in the Provisional Government, and was elected by the 1st National Assembly as Standing Deputy Head of the National Assembly. From an intellectual youth, through years of activity and training, Comrade Pham Van Dong became a politician, a member of the leadership of the Vietnamese revolution.
The responsibilities that comrade was entrusted by the Party, State and People throughout the period of struggle to protect revolutionary achievements, protect national independence, national reunification, build and protect the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland have shown the prestige and talent of leader Pham Van Dong.
Prominent leader
According to the research of Dr. Le Trung Kien (Ho Chi Minh Institute and Party Leaders, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics), before the nationwide resistance war broke out in January 1949, Comrade Pham Van Dong was a Special Envoy of the Party Central Committee and the Government in the South Central Coast.
Here, he made contributions and innovations in building the Nam-Ngai-Binh-Phu free zone, building and consolidating resistance bases, implementing the slogan of self-reliance, preparing forces for the long-term resistance war.
In his position as Deputy Prime Minister, then Prime Minister, Chairman of the Council of Ministers, he paid great attention to the work of consolidating the state government apparatus. In more than 30 years of heading the Government, Comrade Pham Van Dong has always been concerned, researching theory and practice, building a premise, creating and developing a government of the people, by the people, for the people, building a new socialist society suitable to the identity of the Vietnamese nation. In economic leadership, he always demands that all cadres work truly effectively, with high productivity and quality, must practice thrift, fight against corruption, wastefulness, and bureaucracy.
Right from the time the country gained independence, in the position of the first Minister of Finance of the Provisional Government, he had many wise policies to solve difficult financial problems at that time.
