National Assembly Chairman Seah Kian Peng highly appreciated the introductory speech of General Secretary and President To Lam at the Shangri-La Dialogue, emphasizing that the speech expressed common thoughts and desires.
The Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament said that economic-trade-investment cooperation between the two countries has developed strongly in recent times, is a glue that further strengthens the relationship between the two countries and the figures have said it all. Many Singaporean businesses want to invest and do business in Vietnam, especially in the fields of logistics and e-commerce.
General Secretary and President To Lam congratulated Singapore on the great achievements it has made in national development; highly appreciated the position and contribution of the Singaporean Parliament and the Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament in building an effective governance system, creating a foundation for the stable development of the country over the past 60 years.
Assessing the relationship between the two countries as exemplary in ASEAN, the two leaders expressed their pleasure at the important achievements in the relationship between the two countries in general and the relationship between the legislative bodies of the two countries in particular.
The two leaders emphasized that although relations were newly upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2025, in just a short time, the two countries have witnessed many strong steps forward of relations in all fields and levels, a vivid manifestation of a long-lasting, warm relationship, reflecting common values and aspirations of the two countries.
The two leaders said that the similarities of the two countries are an important basis for strengthening cooperation, supporting and becoming a fulcrum for each other to adapt and develop together; expressed their desire to further strengthen the comprehensive cooperation relationship between the two countries' National Assemblies.
General Secretary and President To Lam shared that he had successful talks with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, agreeing to continue to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, helping each other stabilize and adapt in a world that is in the process of reshaping the order with increasing instability and uncertainty. The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in emerging and potential fields such as digital transformation, green economy, clean energy transition, new technology, innovation, smart finance, promote supply chain cooperation, develop financial centers, and ensure food security.
General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated the positive contributions of the National Assemblies of the two countries, including the implementation of the Vietnam - Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, contributing to consolidating political trust and promoting effective economic cooperation; affirmed that the positive cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries has created a favorable legal framework for implementing cooperation agreements.
National Assembly Chairman Seah Kian Peng wished Vietnam to support Singapore's ASEAN Year of Chairmanship in 2027 and the two countries to jointly contribute to an increasingly strong ASEAN.
