Speaking at the 1st Lam Dong Provincial Party Congress, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh highly appreciated the results that Lam Dong has achieved after the merger of 3 provinces, especially in the work of stabilizing and developing the socio-economy.
Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh said that in recent times, Lam Dong has completed the historic task of reorganizing the apparatus and administrative units; opening up new development space with the largest scale in the country.
The economy maintains a fairly good growth rate, an average of 6.5%/year; the economic structure shifts in the right direction. Agriculture - forestry - fishery continues to play a solid supporting role, while key economic sectors are promoted, creating a diverse economic picture.
Lam Dong currently holds a leading position in high-tech agriculture, is a national energy and marine tourism center, and owns the UNESCO Dak Nong Global Geopark heritage.
Tourism brands such as "Da Lat - The wonderful crystallization from the healthy land", "Da Lat Flower Festival", "Binh Thuan - Green Sea, White Sand, Golden Sun" and adventure tourism at Ta Dung Lake - Ha Long Bay in the midst of the great depression have become a prominent mark, attracting domestic and foreign tourists.
The rate of poor households has decreased rapidly, especially in remote areas, ethnic minority areas; the quality of education and health care has been improved; the material and spiritual life of the people has improved significantly. Maintain national defense and security, ensure social order and safety, expand foreign affairs, and create a stable foundation for development.
However, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh also pointed out the limitations: economic scale is not commensurate with potential; growth quality is not sustainable; industry development is not worthy; connecting infrastructure still has many shortcomings. Some places have not sustainable poverty reduction, people's lives are still difficult.
The work of Party building, inspection, supervision and corruption prevention is still limited; some cadres, including key cadres, have been disciplined, criminally prosecuted, and have affected the reputation of the Party organization.
New vision, new determination needed for the breakthrough phase
Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized that the merger of provinces is a historic decision, but to turn potential into reality and improve people's lives, Lam Dong cannot think in the old way or follow the old way.
