Three key tasks to promote sustainable growth
Speaking at the 2026 Green Transformation Day event with the theme "Green Transformation - Driving Force for Vietnam's New Growth Model" organized by Lao Dong Newspaper in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Hanoi People's Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang - Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) highly appreciated the fact that Lao Dong Newspaper continues to maintain the Green Transformation Day series of activities after the success of the 2025 event.
Ms. Giang said that with the theme "Green Transition - Driving Force for Vietnam's New Growth Model", today's event raises a very clear message: Green Transition is no longer just an environmental story, but has become a direct requirement for economic development, production, consumption and the competitiveness of the economy.

In the past time, the Party and State have issued many important guidelines and policies on green growth, circular economy, energy-saving and efficient use, sustainable production and consumption.
Most recently, in the field of energy-saving and efficient use, the Prime Minister issued Directive No. 09/CT-TTg dated March 19, 2026, which set out specific requirements for strengthening energy saving, promoting energy transition and developing electric vehicles.
This is a timely direction with high practical significance in the context of the energy supply crisis due to geopolitical conflicts, while the energy demand of the economy continues to increase, the requirement to ensure energy security, reduce emissions and use energy sources effectively is increasingly urgent.
The spirit of Directive 09 can be summarized in three key tasks:
Firstly, about using energy economically and efficiently: This is a solution that is both regular and continuous in production, business and life, aimed at reducing waste, reducing costs and improving the operational efficiency of the economy, and also has a peak dependence on load in different seasons, especially in hot sunny days.
The second is to promote energy transition for both suppliers - such as source projects, using new energy sources, green and cleaner recycling - to energy-using activities such as using biofuels instead of traditional fuels.
This direction contributes to gradually reducing dependence on fossil fuels, reducing emissions and expanding space for new industries that play a role as a driving force for new economic development such as wind power, solar power, biomass, green hydrogen, etc.
The third is to develop green transportation, promoting the transition from vehicles using gasoline and oil to electric vehicles in the state sector, public and private transportation. This is not only a solution to reduce fossil fuel consumption and reduce air pollution, but also an opportunity to develop new industries and service models associated with electric vehicle batteries, storage batteries, charging stations, electrical equipment and green transportation infrastructure.
From the contents of the above directives, it can be seen that the green transition process needs to be implemented synchronously, from businesses innovating and applying new technologies to increase energy efficiency; from the market having more new and greener products and services; and from the daily choices of each citizen in consumption, travel, and living.
Every action today will contribute to creating a green foundation for the future
Ms. Giang also highly appreciated the event being held at Cau Giay Park, associated with displaying and experiencing electric vehicles and activities to encourage the transition to green transportation. This is an intuitive and close-to-people approach, helping people to see, experience and directly exchange about the changes taking place in life.

The program being designed into a series of activities with forums on energy transition, biofuels, green credit and green growth models also creates more real exchange space between management agencies, experts, businesses and the press. These are all topics that need to be easily understood and practically communicated, so that they are not only limited to awareness but gradually transformed into specific actions in production, business and life.
On this occasion, Ms. Giang expressed her desire for the business community to continue to pay more attention to investing in green technology, using energy efficiently, and developing products and services that are more environmentally friendly. This is not only a social responsibility, but also a necessary direction for businesses to improve growth quality, expand markets internationally and better adapt to the new requirements of domestic and international supply chains.
Representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade also called on each citizen and each family to start with very specific things: Saving electricity, saving fuel, limiting waste, prioritizing energy-saving products and choosing green transportation when conditions permit. These seemingly small things, if maintained regularly and widely spread, will create major changes in society.
Green transformation must be concretized by action. From management agencies, businesses to each citizen, each subject has their part. Each energy saving action, each choice for cleaner fuel, each choice for greener vehicles put into use today will contribute to creating a green foundation for ourselves today and our children and grandchildren tomorrow.
With that spirit, I believe that activities like our Green Transformation Day 2026 will continue to contribute to spreading awareness, promoting action and creating more motivation for the country's faster, greener and more sustainable development process," Ms. Giang emphasized.
In order to promote the green transformation process and effectively implement the Party's Resolution, Lao Dong Newspaper coordinates with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Hanoi City People's Committee to organize Green Transformation Day 2026 with the theme "Green Transformation - Driving Force for Vietnam's new growth model".
This event is a continuation of the success of the Green Transformation Day 2025 series of events, contributing to spreading the spirit of green action, promoting innovation and creating momentum for sustainable growth for the country.

Green Transformation Day 2026 with the theme "Green Transformation - Driving Force for Vietnam's New Growth Model" takes place from 8:00 AM on May 16, 2026 at Cau Giay Park (Hanoi).
Visiting and experiencing green products activities will take place until 6 pm on the same day.
