Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung receives additional important tasks

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung was assigned to be the Head of the National Steering Committee for the development of the semiconductor industry.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed and issued Decision No. 2265/QD-TTg dated October 14, 2025 on the completion of the National Steering Committee for the development of the semiconductor industry.

According to the decision, the National Steering Committee for the development of the semiconductor industry (hereinafter referred to as the Steering Committee) is strengthened on the basis of the National Steering Committee for the development of the semiconductor industry established under Decision No. 791/QD-TTg dated August 5, 2024 of the Prime Minister.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung is the Head of the Steering Committee.

The two Deputy Heads of the Committee are Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung (Standing Deputy Head of the Committee) and Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang.

The members include: Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong; Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Tam; Deputy Head of the Government Office Pham Manh Cuong; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang; Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Truong Thanh Hoai; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Quy Kien; Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh; Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Thanh Tu.

The Steering Committee is an inter-sectoral organization, with the function of assisting the Prime Minister in researching and directing the resolution of important, inter-sectoral tasks related to promoting the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.

The Steering Committee is responsible for researching, consulting, recommending, and proposing directions and solutions to promote the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. At the same time, direct and coordinate with relevant ministries, agencies and organizations to promote the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.

The Steering Committee works on a part-time basis, promoting personal responsibility and exercising authority and responsibility according to the Regulations on organization and operation of the Steering Committee.

Heads of the Steering Committee for the use of the Prime Minister's seal; Deputy Heads and members of the Steering Committee for the use of the seal of ministries and governing bodies.

The Ministry of Science and Technology is the standing agency of the Steering Committee, and is allowed to use the existing apparatus to organize the implementation of tasks assigned by the Steering Committee.

This Decision takes effect from the date of signing and promulgation (October 14, 2025) and replaces Decision No. 791/QD-TTg dated August 5, 2024 of the Prime Minister on the establishment of a National Steering Committee for the development of the semiconductor industry.

Previously, according to Decision No. 791/QD-TTg, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was the Head of the Steering Committee.

Deputy Heads include: Minister of Planning and Investment (Standing Deputy Head of the Committee); Minister of Information and Communications.
