On October 2, the Government Office announced that it had just issued Official Letter No. 9401/VPCP-CN conveying the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha regarding the fire at the parking lot under Vinh Tuy Bridge, Hanoi City.
The document stated: Considering the proposal of the Ministry of Construction in the Report on the implementation of the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 157/CD-TTg on the fire at the parking lot under Vinh Tuy Bridge, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the Hanoi People's Committee to urgently implement the opinion of the Ministry of Construction and promptly overcome the consequences caused by the fire at the parking lot under Vinh Tuy Bridge.
At the same time, the Hanoi People's Committee reviewed and strictly handled parking lots and parking lots operating on vacant lots that were not included in the planning of bus stations, parking lots, transportation centers and rest stops in the city, and reported to the Ministry of Construction to synthesize and report to the Prime Minister.
The Deputy Prime Minister also requested the Ministry of Construction to urgently synthesize reports from localities and report to the Prime Minister according to the direction in Official Dispatch No. 157/CD-TTg of the Prime Minister, to have comprehensive solutions to avoid similar incidents.
Previously, at 1:00 p.m. on August 30, 2025, a fire broke out at a parking lot under Vinh Tuy bridge area on the approach road in Hong Ha ward, initially causing a fire of about 500 motorbikes and risking affecting the structure of Vinh Tuy bridge.
Immediately after the fire, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Official Dispatch No. 157/CD-TTg of the Prime Minister requesting relevant agencies to clarify the cause, responsibility and promptly overcome the consequences.
At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister also requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to direct the review of all parking lots under bridges and roads in the area, take measures to rectify and strictly handle violations (if any) in accordance with the provisions of law.
It is known that the Hanoi City Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Board has chaired a general review of the use of road safety corridors in coordination with contractors for road management and maintenance and relevant agencies.
In addition, the city's patrol force has coordinated with the Traffic Police, Order Police and Fire Prevention and Fighting Police to inspect and strictly handle violations, especially the use of underpasses as illegal parking lots.
The Traffic Infrastructure Management Department is assigned to review and immediately relocate parking lots within the road infrastructure protection area before October 30, 2025.
