General Secretary and President To Lam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation paid an official visit to France on October 6 and 7 at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. This is the final stop in General Secretary and President To Lam's working visit from September 30 to October 7.
Answering the press before the working trip of the General Secretary, President, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son pointed out that with France, on the basis of the special "fateful" relationship and the results of the strategic partnership over the past 11 years, the leaders of the two sides will also discuss measures to bring the strategic partnership to a new level, increasingly in-depth, practical, commensurate with the potential and position of both countries in the region and in the world; strengthen trade and investment cooperation; promote traditional areas of cooperation such as culture, education, science and technology, cooperation between localities; expand cooperation in new areas with great potential such as aerospace, renewable energy, high technology, digital economy.
According to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, France is one of Vietnam's leading European partners in tourism, trade, investment, ODA; participating in many projects contributing to the development, modernization, improvement of quality and living environment of Vietnamese people such as the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station Urban Railway Project, climate change response projects in the Mekong Delta.
Meanwhile, according to VNA, French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet said that the official visit to France by General Secretary and President To Lam is an opportunity for the two countries to continue joint efforts to strengthen the bilateral partnership with new cooperation directions in areas of mutual interest, as well as the international roles of the two countries to strengthen security.
In the field of sustainable development, Vietnam and France can strengthen cooperation in energy and transport, especially railway transport. Cooperation activities in innovation and creativity are also very promising and practical for Vietnam because there are currently many French enterprises that can share experience and technology with Vietnamese partners, contributing to further strengthening the relationship between the two sides.
French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet said that during this visit, Vietnam and France signed many cooperation agreements, including an intergovernmental agreement in the field of education.
According to Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang, after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and 11 years of strategic partnership, Vietnam - France relations have accumulated in both quantity and quality, and are witnessing new developments in both breadth and depth in all fields.
The official visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to the French Republic is of special significance and is the first time in 22 years that a Vietnamese head of state has visited France.

Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang added that he is very optimistic and believes that with the new cooperation frameworks and momentum that the leaders of the two countries will create during the official visit of General Secretary and President To Lam, the two countries will have more conditions and room to further deepen bilateral cooperation in all fields and channels.
