Hundreds of houses collapse due to Typhoon Saudel, Fujian urgently overcomes the consequences

Fujian (China) is urgently overcoming the consequences of Typhoon Saudel's circulation, many residential areas have been deeply flooded and more than 100 houses have collapsed.

The extreme flood caused by Typhoon Saudel has turned many areas in Fujian province into sea of water, of which Bo Dien city is the focal point suffering the heaviest damage. The local meteorological station recorded 24 hours of rainfall up to 416.5mm, a record high in September.

Floodwaters rising more than 2m high in Hoa Dinh town (Thanh Suong district) have collapsed more than 100 houses, cut off widespread traffic and isolated thousands of households.

The entire province of Fujian had previously urgently evacuated nearly 600,000 people to safe places to avoid the risk of flash floods and landslides.

By September 5, the extreme heavy rain due to the circulation of Typhoon Saudel had ended, and the weather in Bo Dien city gradually turned sunny and dry. Flooding in the most heavily affected areas such as Hoa Dinh town has gradually receded, creating favorable conditions for the locality to shift its focus to overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.

Local authorities have mobilized forces to clear deep flooded mud on key traffic routes, and repair the power and clean water supply network that was paralyzed before.

In Ha Cao village, Hoa Dinh town, grassroots officials were on duty to support people and young children to move safely through muddy roads due to mud and soil deposits, and at the same time accelerated environmental disinfection and ensured temporary accommodation for households that had to evacuate.
