On December 9, the 18th term People's Council of Quang Binh province opened its 19th session - the regular session at the end of 2024.
Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Binh province Tran Hai Chau said that the province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in 2024 will increase by 7.18%; 24/25 main targets will meet and exceed the set plan. The value of industrial and construction production will increase by 9.7%; agriculture, forestry and fishery will increase by 3.08%; services will increase by 7.23%. All three economic sectors will grow higher than the same period last year.
Quang Binh province has welcomed more than 5.2 million domestic and foreign visitors. Quang Binh tourism is increasingly affirming its brand on the domestic and international tourism map. The site clearance work has been drastically implemented, contributing significantly to the early completion of the 500kV Line 3 Project from Quang Trach (Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen) under the direction of the Prime Minister.
Quang Binh province has reorganized and reduced 6 commune-level administrative units according to the resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee.
In addition to the achievements, the Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Binh province informed that the scale of the province's economy is still small, with low competitiveness. The activities of industrial zones are not yet vibrant. Most of the enterprises in the area are small, facing difficulties in production and business; typical agricultural products have not yet promoted their advantages.
Infrastructure and capacity to serve tourism are still limited. The progress of some projects is slow, especially resort, urban and commercial housing projects. The rate of disbursement of public investment capital is higher than the national average, but still lower than planned.
Mr. Tran Hai Chau said that the 3-level government apparatus is still cumbersome and ineffective. Administrative procedures in some areas are still cumbersome. The advisory and management capacity of some departments, branches, sectors and localities is still limited, lacking initiative and determination.
The psychology of avoiding and fearing responsibility among cadres, civil servants and public employees has not been overcome.
At the 19th session, the Provincial People's Council will listen to and consider 27 reports on the results of work in 2024 and key tasks in 2025 of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council; the results of the implementation of the Provincial People's Council's resolution on socio-economic tasks in 2024 and the socio-economic plan for 2025; information from the Provincial National Assembly Delegation on the results of the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly.
