Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has just signed Official Dispatch No. 41/CD-TTg dated April 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister on handling the case of the production and trading of counterfeit goods such as medicine and health protection foods.
According to the dispatch, recently, the authorities have discovered cases of production and trading of counterfeit goods such as medicine and health protection foods occurring in Thanh Hoa province and some localities.
The production and trading of these counterfeit goods has lasted for many years, especially dozens of fake drugs and health protection foods have been produced and put into circulation.
The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Health to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security in investigating and handling the above-mentioned counterfeit goods trafficking case. Direct localities to immediately review and recall counterfeit drugs and health protection foods that have been detected, promptly prevent and minimize the harmful effects of the use of counterfeit drugs and health protection foods.
Coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and agencies to promote measures to control and prevent fake drugs and health protection foods from circulating on the market.
Strengthen inspection and supervision of compliance with laws on pharmaceuticals and food safety of pharmaceutical and health protection food businesses, especially in key areas.
Strengthen measures to manage drug retail and wholesale establishments in conjunction with the requirement to connect drug supply establishments; only buy and sell drugs that are granted circulation registration certificates, with invoices, documents, and origin in accordance with regulations; sell drugs according to prescriptions; strictly handle violations.
Review and improve legal regulations to improve the responsibility and management efficiency of relevant agencies and local authorities for the production, trading, wholesale and retail of medicine and health protection foods.
The Ministry of Public Security focuses on speeding up the investigation, promptly reaching conclusions on the above case of production and trading of fake medicine and fake health protection foods; strictly handling violators according to the provisions of law.
Direct police at all levels to strengthen the situation, detect, prevent, and promptly handle acts of producing and trading fake drugs and fake health protection foods.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade shall preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Health, relevant agencies, People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to strengthen market management measures to promptly detect, prevent and handle the production and trading of fake drugs and fake health protection foods.
Continue to strictly implement tasks and solutions to strengthen the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, production and trading of counterfeit and poor quality goods belonging to the group of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, functional foods, medicinal herbs and traditional medicine.
The People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities direct competent agencies to urgently review and inspect the compliance with the law of drug and health protection food businesses in the area, recall fake drugs and fake health protection foods.
