On the evening of December 6, at the Ho Chi Minh Museum (Hanoi), the Organizing Committee of the 15th Writing Contest "Simple but Noble Examples" (2023-2024) with the theme "Imprints of soldiers in peacetime" held a closing and award ceremony. General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense attended the award ceremony.
This is an activity of practical political and cultural significance towards the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024) and the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the General Department of Politics of the VPA (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024).
Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To - Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army - emphasized: The 15th writing contest with the theme "Imprints of soldiers in peacetime" has attracted many authors who are professional journalists, writers and many dedicated collaborators with nearly 1,000 participating articles.
Many of the characters reflected in the contest are heroes, generals, and veterans who have experienced battles and now continue to contribute their intelligence and efforts on the new front, along with many exemplary officers and soldiers who are silently and selflessly dedicating themselves day and night for the peace and happiness of people across the country.
In particular, this year's contest, the Organizing Committee has selected and honored 14 characters who are generals and heroes of the People's Armed Forces. Each character in the work truly represents the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, preserving and promoting the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers.
After 2 preliminary and final rounds, the Jury decided to award 35 prizes to authors and groups of authors with excellent works, including 1 special prize, 3 A prizes, 8 B prizes, 11 C prizes and 12 Encouragement prizes.
With the work “Footprints of General Ba Tra”, written about General Pham Van Tra - former member of the Politburo, former Minister of National Defense, Colonel Tran Hoang Tien, Head of the Editorial Secretary Office, People's Army Newspaper, won the Special Prize of the Writing Contest.
“I have many deep impressions through many contacts with the General in his hometown, as well as when he came to Hanoi. Although he is 90 years old, General Pham Van Tra is still clear-minded, intelligent and especially always interested, concerned and passionate about current and important issues of the country and the Army. Through the stories, I see that the General is very simple, approachable and has many creative ideas, strong and decisive leadership, making an impression in building the Army, as well as the cause of innovation, building and protecting the Fatherland” - Colonel Tran Hoang Tien shared.
At the ceremony, Major General Doan Xuan Bo - Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Contest - affirmed: "The 15th writing contest "Simple but noble examples" with the theme "Imprints of soldiers in peacetime" was a great success.
