On December 2, the Organizing Committee of the Writing Contest "Ordinary but Noble Examples" held a press conference to introduce the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 15th writing contest (2023-2024) with the theme "Imprints of soldiers in peacetime".
The contest was launched from June 8, 2023 to October 31, 2024 to discover and honor typical examples of soldiers working in the Army; veterans and former soldiers with outstanding contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new period.
This is one of the meaningful political and cultural activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (1989-2024) and the 80th anniversary of the General Department of Politics of the VPA (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024).
According to the Organizing Committee of the contest, after more than 1 year of launching, the Organizing Committee received nearly 1,000 entries in the categories of reportage, memoir, portrait memoir...
Through two rounds of judging by the Preliminary and Final Councils, the Organizing Committee of the contest selected 35 best works to award to authors and groups of authors, including: 1 Special Prize (50 million VND), 3 A prizes (each prize worth 30 million VND), 8 B prizes (each prize worth 20 million VND); 11 C prizes (each prize worth 10 million VND) and 12 Encouragement prizes (each prize worth 5 million VND).
Among them, the work about General Pham Van Tra by Colonel Tran Hoang Tien won the Special Prize of the 15th writing contest.
Major General Doan Xuan Bo - Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest - said that this year is the first time in 15 times the Writing Contest "Simple but Noble Examples" has had a Special Prize.
"Initially, this award was not included in the award structure, but with the excellence of the work, the Final Jury evaluated and gave it a very high score, and reported to the Organizing Committee to unanimously award a Special Prize in this year's writing contest," said Major General Doan Xuan Bo.
According to the Organizing Committee of the writing contest, the characters honored through articles range from subjects, ages to fields of work, regions, etc. They are all exemplary examples of qualities, personalities, kindness, always studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style. Whether in wartime or peacetime, they maintain their courage, overcome difficulties, and constantly create and innovate to contribute their intelligence and efforts to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
The 15th writing contest "Simple but noble examples" (2023-2024) with the theme "Imprints of soldiers in peacetime" is jointly organized by the People's Army Newspaper, the Press and Publishing Department/Central Propaganda Department, the People's Army Publishing House and related units.
On this occasion, the People's Army Newspaper and its coordinating and accompanying agencies and units will launch the 16th Writing Contest "Simple but Noble Examples" (2024-2025).
