Speaking at the first Can Tho City Party Congress, term 2025-2030, the new City Party Committee Secretary Le Quang Tung expressed his honor and emotion when the Politburo and the Secretariat trusted him, rotated him and assigned him the responsibility of leading the Can Tho City Party Committee - a land rich in revolutionary traditions, imbued with affection and enthusiasm. He said that this is not only a great honor but also a precious opportunity to learn, practice and contribute.
Can Tho City Party Secretary Le Quang Tung respectfully thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for recognizing and praising the outstanding results that the city has achieved in the past term in the fields of economy, culture, society, national defense, security, Party building and the political system; and frankly pointed out the limitations and shortcomings that need to be overcome soon.
Mr. Tung emphasized the strategic orientations, along with the key tasks and solutions suggested by the National Assembly Chairman on Party building work, attaching importance to personnel work, operating local governments at both levels, as well as effectively implementing the Central Resolutions. In particular, there is a proposal to summarize Resolution 59 on the construction and development of Can Tho City to 2030, with a vision to 2045, as an important guideline for the city to maximize its potential and advantages, continue to affirm its central role in economy, trade, science, technology, education - training, high-quality healthcare; at the same time, become an important driving force for the development of the Mekong Delta and a growth zone of the whole country.
"The Party Committee, government and people of Can Tho City seriously absorb and fully and comprehensively grasp the profound contents and instructions of the National Assembly Chairman and will concretize them in resolutions, programs and action plans for the entire term, implementing them immediately after the congress in a practical, timely and effective manner. We hope to continue to receive the attention, leadership and close direction of the Chairman of the National Assembly and leaders of the Party and State so that the city can develop further," affirmed the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee.
On behalf of the City Party Committee Executive Committee, term I, 2025-2030, Mr. Le Quang Tung expressed his deep gratitude to the Politburo and the Secretariat for their trust and assignment of important responsibilities. He emphasized that this is both an honor and a great responsibility before the trust and expectations of the Central Government, the Party Committee and the People of the city, especially in the new development stage.
"With new confidence and spirit, the Party Committee, government and people of Can Tho City promise to promote the combined strength of the entire political system, devote all their heart, intelligence, innovation, and determination to build an increasingly beautiful, civilized and modern city," said the Secretary of the City Party Committee.
According to Mr. Tung, in recent years, under the leadership of the Central Government, the determination of the Party Committee, the government and the consensus of the people, Can Tho has achieved many important and comprehensive achievements. The economy remains stable, urban infrastructure is increasingly spacious, rural appearance is strongly innovated, social security is focused on, people's lives in both urban and rural areas are increasingly improved.
He shared that entering a new phase with a larger scale and development space, Can Tho carries the responsibility of being both a central, modern, dynamic urban area and a land deeply attached to agriculture, farmers, and rural areas of the plains. This is an opportunity for the city to maximize its advantages, combining urban strength with rural potential, creating harmonious, sustainable and inclusive development.
In his new position, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Quang Tung affirmed that he will promote the tradition of solidarity, together with the Standing Committee and the Party Executive Committee to lead and direct the successful implementation of the set goals and tasks; at the same time, he hopes to continue to receive the attention and direction of the Central Government, coordination and support of ministries, branches and localities in the region.
And above all, it is the trust and support of all cadres, party members and people of the city, so that Can Tho is increasingly civilized, modern, rich, beautiful, and fruitful, truly becoming the center of the Mekong Delta.
