Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Hanoi People's Committee this afternoon (November 28), Mr. Vu Dai Thang expressed his emotion, pride and deeply realized that this is a special honor and at the same time a huge political responsibility before the Politburo, the Secretariat in the Party Committee and the people of the city.
"Hanoi - the capital of the country with a thousand-year tradition of culture and heroism, is always the pride of every Vietnamese people. For me personally, I was born and raised in Hai Phong but always wanted to study and work in the capital Hanoi" - Mr. Thang said.
The new Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee said that he has been attached to the capital since attending university and working at the Ministry of Planning and Investment until the Politburo and the Secretariat trusted him, assigned him and transferred him to Ha Nam, Quang Binh and Quang Ninh localities for training and coaching. To be assigned to work in Hanoi today, directly contributing to the capital is a great honor for him personally.
"I would like to express my sincere thanks for the trust of the Party Central Committee, the trust of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the support of the City People's Council delegates. This is a very profound encouragement, and at the same time a requirement that requires me to make greater efforts and be more responsible for the development of the capital" - the new Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee emphasized.
According to him, Hanoi - the heart of the country, is the national administrative and political center, where each decision not only has meaning for the people of the capital but also spreads and leads the overall development of the country.
In recent years, under the close leadership of the Central Government and the solidarity of the entire Party Committee, Hanoi has achieved important and comprehensive achievements in all fields. That is a common pride, and at the same time a foundation to enter a new stage, with greater aspirations, greater vision, more drastic approaches and stronger will.
The Resolution of the 18th City Party Congress has determined the goal of building Hanoi into a civilized, modern, and cultural capital by 2030, a major center for economy, culture, education, healthcare, science, technology, and innovation of the whole country. Vision by 2045 to become a globally connected city, with a high standard of living, comprehensive, unique, harmonious, and typical development for the whole country.
Taking on the task in the context of the country entering a new era of development with many great favorable opportunities but also many intertwined difficulties and challenges requires a new thinking, a new and more drastic and effective way of doing things in organizing and operating urban government, in promoting socio-economic development to increase the scale of the capital's economy, ensure sustainable growth, increase state budget revenue, constantly increase income and improve the quality of life of the people.
Clearly identify the responsibility of those who directly organize implementation and bear the highest responsibility for the effectiveness of management and operation of socio-economic development, ensuring security, and improving people's lives in the capital.
In organizing the implementation of tasks, Mr. Thang promised to work with the City People's Committee to lead, direct, and manage socio-economic development, and operate local governments at both levels with a spirit of discipline, integrity, and efficiency, ensuring transparency in all stages, improving management efficiency and effectiveness, and taking drastic and consistent actions according to the motto "clear work, clear people, clear time, clear responsibilities, clear results, taking the satisfaction and trust of the people as the final measure of operational efficiency".
"On that basis, in the coming time, we will urgently concretize the goals, targets and tasks set out in the Resolution of the 18th City Party Congress, while synchronously and effectively implementing the Central's strategic and breakthrough Resolutions" - Mr. Thang said.
In his newly assigned position, the new Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee pledged to maintain political courage, strictly comply with the leadership of the City Party Committee and the supervision of the People's Council, fulfill the responsibility of setting an example, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, being transparent, honest, putting the common thing first and foremost; preventing and combating corruption, negativity, and group interests; being close to the people, valuing the people, listening to the people, taking the lives, lives and happiness of the people as the focus of all decisions.
The new Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Vu Dai Thang, also hopes to continue to receive regular leadership and direction from the Central Government and Hanoi City so that he and the collective of the Hanoi People's Committee can best fulfill their duties and tasks.
