Within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Finland, on the afternoon of October 21 (local time), in Helsinki, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, met with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in the Nordic countries ( alone, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway).
According to VNA, speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that he always listens to and values recommendations with the aim of enhancing the value and position of Vietnam; creating the most favorable conditions for the overseas Vietnamese community to keep up with the lives of the host country. This is also a very important task of the Party and State for the overseas Vietnamese community.
The overseas Vietnamese community not only actively contributes to the development of host countries, but is also an ambassador, a cultural and bridge that is very important to promote cooperation between Vietnam and other countries.
Announcing to the people some outstanding features of the country's situation, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that we have achieved many achievements but at the same time, we must still ensure stable and sustainable long-term growth, not by all means, at all costs. The State also applies many policies to improve people's lives.
The General Secretary highly appreciated the Vietnamese community in Finland as well as in the Nordic countries for being very united and unified, always turning towards their homeland and country, expressing patriotism. People love, support each other, support, help each other and contribute to the development of the host country, many people have achieved, held important positions or dominated scientific fields.
The General Secretary also highly appreciated the activities of the Embassy and the agencies representing Vietnam in Finland and in the Nordic countries. Although the number of people is small, the agency always completes its tasks well, promptly strengthens solidarity, international integration, and responsibility of Vietnam, and cares for the Vietnamese community.
The General Secretary said that Vietnam and Finland have upgraded their relations to a Strategic Partnership, opening up new cooperation space, in which the pillar of economic and trade cooperation continues to be promoted; cooperation in science and technology is a very potential field that needs to be promoted, considering this a very important pillar.
Innovation, climate change, industrial production, digital transformation, quantum technology, artificial intelligence are all new areas of cooperation that Finland and the Nordic countries have been one of the leading countries not only in the region but also in the world.
Cooperation in culture, people-to-people exchanges, and tourism also opens up many good opportunities. Education and training cooperation with Finland to train high-quality human resources is a focus in the coming time.
