The Van Thanh bridge project connecting the two banks of the Ky Ty river in Tien Thanh ward and Binh Thuan ward, Lam Dong province with an investment of about 225 billion VND, started in January 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2025.
On the morning of October 22, a barge carrying 2 cranes was recorded at the construction site anchored under the river. About 6 workers are working at the locations on the bridge. The contractor is currently constructing underwater items and areas near the shore.
Lam Dong Provincial Department of Construction said that to date, the project has reached about 55% of the contract volume. The project has completed 1 bridge abutment, 5 bridge piers, completed 114 girders and installed 43/114 girders...
However, site clearance is the biggest "bottleneck". Contractors are forced to adjust construction progress and plans to suit the situation of land clearance problems and actual conditions.

The main reason is the problem of alluvial land and the difference in compensation prices. Some households near the river have been granted red books, while the previous households have not been granted land use right certificates, leading to different compensation levels. People have not agreed, causing construction progress to be delayed.
To date, the project's investment capital disbursement rate has only reached about 10.28% of the 2025 capital plan.
Faced with the above reality, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Hong Hai noted that the project has been implemented for nearly 2 years but the site clearance work is still slow.
To promptly resolve the difficulties, Mr. Hai assigned the People's Committee of Tien Thanh Ward to review and apply the compensation price for 8 households according to regulations. The Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Branch of the Land Fund Development Center need to coordinate to complete the compensation and site clearance work of the project, and promptly hand over the clean site to the construction unit.
Mr. Hai also requested the construction unit to speed up the progress, do it as soon as the site is available, ensure the disbursement progress and meet the expectations of local people.
The Van Thanh Bridge project is designed as a reinforced concrete bridge, with a prescribed load capacity of 6 spans, a global length of about 179m, and a bridge width of 19m. The goal of the Van Thanh bridge project is to serve the needs of travel, goods exchange between the Van Thanh residential area and Phan Thiet area and complete traffic infrastructure and urban beautification.
