American Group wants to operate at Long Thanh and Gia Binh airports

The US FedEx Group hopes to continue developing operations at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai airports, and studying and expanding operations at Long Thanh and Gia Binh airports.

On the afternoon of February 25, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Mr. Frederick W.Smith - Founder and Executive Chairman of FedEx Group.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the achievements of FedEx Group in its operations in Vietnam over the past 30 years, and thanked the President and FedEx Group for their personal feelings and contributions to the socio-economic development of Vietnam.

The General Secretary assessed that Vietnam-US relations have had strong developments in recent times, especially in 2025 when the two countries celebrated the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and recently upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

General Secretary To Lam shared that Vietnam is promoting 3 strategic breakthroughs, including breakthroughs in infrastructure. Accordingly, the General Secretary affirmed his support for FedEx to continue expanding its operations in Vietnam in key areas such as infrastructure, services, transportation; contributing to the global supply chain and making Vietnam an important center in the international logistics network.

The General Secretary suggested that FedEx cooperate closely with relevant Vietnamese agencies to soon implement the plan to expand business activities in Vietnam quickly and effectively.

The General Secretary hopes that FedEx will prioritize the Vietnamese market, and at the same time, Vietnam will also prioritize partners with a long-term cooperation process such as FedEx.

Mr. Smith affirmed that FedEx Group is proud to contribute to the development of Vietnam in the past 3 decades. He believes that Vietnam is converging all the factors to become an important logistics center of the region and the world.

On that basis, FedEx expressed its desire to continue expanding operations in Vietnam, continue to develop operations at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai airports, as well as study expanding operations at Long Thanh and Gia Binh airports in the near future, thereby supporting Vietnam's economy to improve transport capacity and connect with the global supply chain.

On the occasion of Vietnamese Doctors' Day, February 27, General Secretary To Lam expressed his gratitude for FedEx Group's support in implementing support and treatment programs for many heart and eye patients in Vietnam over the years.

In particular, the General Secretary highly appreciated the FedEx Group's sponsorship of St. Petersburg Children's Hospital. Judes has partnered with the Central Oncology Hospital and the Children's Hospital in the treatment of child cancer for many years.

The General Secretary affirmed that this is a very meaningful activity, helping to improve health care for many children and families in Vietnam.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his hope that FedEx Group and St. Petersburg Children's Hospital would support the development of the FedEx Group. Judes, with its strength in treating in the field of cancer treatment for children, continues to expand this very practical field of cooperation, especially helping Vietnamese hospitals develop specialized cancer treatment for children.

Mr. Smith affirmed that immediately after returning home, he will discuss with the leadership of St. Petersburg Children's Hospital. Judes to plan specific support, with the desire to increase the treatment rate for pediatric patients in Vietnam to 94% as in the US.
