On the 26th of March this year, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union celebrated 95 years of construction, growth and contribution. Looking back at that glorious journey, we are even more proud of the traditions of generations of Vietnamese youth. Through periods of struggle for national independence, national defense, and national construction and development, youth have always been the shock force, leading the way, regardless of difficulties and hardships, ready to dedicate themselves to the revolutionary cause. Under the glorious flag of the Party, guided by beloved Uncle Ho and revolutionary generations, our country's youth have written many beautiful pages of history with noble ideals, patriotism and a desire to contribute.
In all revolutionary periods, youth have always been the pioneering force, playing a core role. Right from the years of preparing for the establishment of the Party, the Vietnamese youth force has played a particularly important role. Through the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Union and predecessor organizations, many patriotic youth have early absorbed revolutionary theory, spreaded Marxism-Leninism, built bases, trained organizations, prepared a contingent of cadres and created a political and ideological foundation for the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Comrades and senior leaders of the Party have all held important positions even when they were young. In the resistance wars, youth were the class of people "determined to die for the Fatherland to live", present in trenches, fire lines, great rear, construction sites and in vibrant movements such as "Three Ready", "Three Commit" "Five Volunteers". In particular, the youth volunteer force has become a bright and beautiful symbol of revolutionary heroism, making a very important contribution to the victory of the cause of national liberation. When the country entered the renovation process, youth continued to be a quick-witted force to approach the new, dare to think, dare to do, take the lead in learning, scientific research, labor production, business and international integration.
Currently, we are living in an era where national strength is increasingly measured by creative capacity, science and technology level, human resource quality and adaptability to major world fluctuations. Competitiveness between economies is no longer mainly based on resources or investment capital, but increasingly dependent on knowledge, technology, management models and new added values. In the context of a rapidly, complex, and unpredictable world, the requirement to build an independent and self-reliant economy, improve the country's strategic self-reliance capacity becomes more urgent than ever. Therefore, innovation is no longer just a matter for some industries or some businesses, but must become a common development spirit of the whole country, of each level, each industry, each locality, each agency, unit and each citizen, especially the young generation. Deeply aware of this, our Party has issued Resolution No. 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, identifying this as an important driving force for rapid and sustainable national development, improving the competitiveness of the economy, and at the same time strengthening the potential and strategic autonomy capacity of the nation in the new era.
We are pleased to witness more and more Vietnamese youth affirming their intelligence and bravery in many fields: from science, information technology, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, automation to innovative startups, high-tech agriculture, digital economy, education, health, environment, culture. In many localities, despite difficult conditions, many union members and youth still persistently seek initiatives in labor, digital transformation, community service, building new rural areas, civilized urban areas, preserving and promoting national cultural values. This shows that innovation is not something far-fetched. It can start from modern laboratories, but it can also start from a small idea to solve practical problems of people, businesses, localities and the country.
Innovation is not just high technology or large capital-attracting projects. First of all, it is the ability to see what is unreasonable to find ways to do better; it is to dare to ask questions, dare to experiment, dare to change for the common good; it is to turn ideas into solutions, turn knowledge into productivity, turn initiatives into value. A young person successfully researching new technology is innovation; an engineer improving a production line to save materials and increase productivity is innovation; a young doctor, teacher or official applying technology to serve the people better is also innovation. Wherever there is aspiration to rise up and the spirit of doing better for the community, there is innovation.
Therefore, the career of innovation and creativity of young people is not limited to a few trendy fields but covers many aspects of national life. In learning, young people need to cultivate critical thinking, system thinking, lifelong self-study ability, mastering foreign languages, digital skills and scientific research methods. In labor, they must respect discipline, respect processes but not accept old ways, not be content with what they already have. In production and business, it is necessary to boldly apply technology, improve management quality, improve productivity, build Vietnamese brands with quality and creativity. In the public sector, young people need to contribute to building a modern, transparent, effective and efficient administration. In culture, society, environment, national defense, and security, young people must also proactively bring new solutions into practice, preserve identity, and protect the Fatherland in both real and digital spaces.
However, genuine creativity cannot be separated from living ideals, morality and civic responsibility. Young people must dare to think, dare to do, dare to experiment with new things; but that does not mean being arbitrary, hasty, chasing trends or temporary fame. Innovation must be associated with serving the Fatherland, serving the people, complying with the law, respecting morality, culture, community interests and national - ethnic interests. An initiative is only truly valuable when it makes life better, society more civilized, people served better, the country is stronger, more independent, and more self-reliant. The more young people are skilled in technology, the faster they approach new things, the more they must maintain their ideals, political bravery, social responsibility and patriotism. That is what ensures that innovation goes in the right direction, develops healthily and sustainably.
I hope Vietnamese youth today always remember: patriotism in the new era is not only expressed by emotions, but must be expressed by knowledge, action capacity, the spirit of conquering new peaks of science and technology and the will to master the future of the country. Success begins with the spirit of constantly learning, constantly improving, constantly setting higher requirements for oneself. There is no sustainable success without serious labor; there is no great project without persistent accumulation; there is no true achievement if it is only based on luck or momentary inspiration. The path to success requires both talent and discipline, both enthusiasm and depth, both great aspiration and humility, and receptiveness.
The Fatherland needs young people with a lifelong learning spirit. In a rapidly changing world, today's knowledge can quickly become outdated if we stop. Therefore, learning must not only be limited to school or the early years of life, but must become a constant quality. Vietnamese youth need to proactively update new knowledge, improve digital skills, the ability to use technology, foreign languages, international cooperation and the ability to work in a multi-sectoral, multicultural environment. But learning is not only for having a good job to advance; learning is also for broadening the horizon, improving the capacity to contribute, so that when the country needs it, each young person has enough qualifications and bravery to take on more difficult and larger tasks. A country strong in innovation must first of all be a country with young people who are eager to learn and have a favorable environment to turn knowledge into action.
Young people also need to strongly nurture the spirit of starting a business and establishing a career, but it must be starting a business with intelligence, business ethics and the aspiration to create new value for society. Starting a business is not only for personal success, but also to solve community problems, create jobs for others, and contribute to improving the autonomy of the economy. I hope that young Vietnamese entrepreneurs not only dream of building large businesses, but also build decent businesses; not only seeking profits, but also aiming for sustainable values; not only competing with cheap prices, but with technology, quality, management and prestige. The country really needs young scientists who dare to go into new fields, young engineers conquering core technology, young farmers doing smart agriculture, young civil servants strongly reforming public service processes, young artists creating valuable works and young soldiers mastering modern technology, contributing to firmly protecting the Fatherland.
In general, today's youth force can set out the action motto: "Self-reliance - Pioneering creativity - Aspiration to contribute - Mastering the future".
To achieve that, it is not only possible to place expectations on the shoulders of young people, but the entire political system and society must also act together. The State needs to continue to improve institutions, remove barriers, create a transparent and favorable legal environment for creativity, encourage experimentation and protect those who dare to think, dare to do, dare to innovate for the common good. Educational institutions must strongly innovate teaching and learning methods, focusing on forming independent thinking, problem-solving capacity, collaborative and practical skills. Research institutes, universities and businesses need to strengthen linkages, forming a linkage chain from research to application, from ideas to products, from laboratories to markets. When institutions are open, a favorable environment and social trust are strengthened, the creativity of young people will be awakened and promoted more strongly.
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union organization must continue to innovate its content and methods of operation, truly be a companion of youth, a common home to gather, encourage, discover, nurture and support young talents. The youth movement must become an environment for the young generation to mature in ideals, morality, capacity and responsibility; and at the same time a place to discover new factors, good models, effective ways of doing things and typical examples. When well organized and promoted in the right direction, youth can completely make practical contributions to the country and community.
I propose that Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, the business community, intellectuals, artists, educators, scientists and the entire people continue to pay more deep attention to the maturity of the young generation. It is necessary to listen to the voices of young people, respect correct ideas and accompany young people in studying, scientific research, starting a business, establishing oneself, and starting a career. A country that wants to develop quickly and sustainably cannot lack faith in the young generation. But that belief must not only stop at words but must be expressed by mechanisms, policies, resources, favorable environments, along with setting an example, guiding and imparting responsibility from previous generations.
On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, we hope that Vietnamese youth today will continue to promote the glorious tradition, nurture the aspiration to contribute, enrich their intellect, cultivate bravery, foster morality, improve innovation capacity, master science - technology and digital transformation, bravely step into new fields, difficult tasks, and unprecedented tasks. With that belief, we have a basis to expect that the young generation of Vietnam will continue to write the glorious pages of the nation's history in the language of today's era: the language of knowledge, of creativity, of responsibility and of the desire to rise up constantly.
