On June 28 in Thai Nguyen, General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense chaired the conference to hand over the task of Commander of Military Region 1.
According to the Ministry of National Defense's Electronic Information Portal, implementing the Prime Minister's decision on personnel work, Lieutenant General Truong Manh Dung - Commander of Military Region 1 was transferred and appointed to hold the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff. According to the direction of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, Major General Tran Xuan Manh, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of Military Region 1, received the task of Commander of Military Region 1.
At the conference, Lieutenant General Truong Manh Dung handed over the task of Commander of Military Region 1 to Major General Tran Xuan Manh in accordance with regulations.
Speaking to direct at the conference, General Phan Van Giang assessed: Over the past time, in his position as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Commander of Military Region 1, Lieutenant General Truong Manh Dung and the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Command of the Military Region have led and directed the armed forces (AR) of the Military Region to successfully complete their tasks, in which many tasks were excellently completed.
For Major General Tran Xuan Manh, who is a cadre with basic training, grown up from the grassroots level, trained and tested through many working positions, currently holding the position of Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Military Region, with a lot of practical experience in leading and directing units, demonstrating strategic thinking in directing the construction of the armed forces.
General Phan Van Giang requested Major General Tran Xuan Manh and the Party Committee and Command of the Military Region to continue to inherit and promote the achieved results; focus on leading the construction of the all-people national defense, the all-people national defense posture associated with the solid people's security posture; thoroughly grasp and strictly implement resolutions, strategies, and projects on military and national defense tasks.
Effectively perform the function of state management of national defense; advise the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to build and complete the functions and tasks of local military agencies at commune level; lead and direct local military agencies to advise Party committees and authorities at all levels to effectively implement military and national defense work; especially commune-level military agencies.
Invest in building a system of defense works; combine socio-economic development with strengthening national defense and security; closely coordinate with agencies, units, and forces in managing and protecting border sovereignty, fighting against smuggling, crime, drugs, illegal entry and exit, and illegal activities.
Focus on improving the overall quality, combat strength and combat readiness of the Armed Forces of the Military Region; strengthen political and ideological education; strictly maintain the combat readiness regime; firmly grasp the local situation, not to be passive or surprised.
At the same time, there are solutions to overcome weaknesses and weaknesses; tighten discipline and regular order; strengthen mass mobilization and field training associated with building strong local political bases; promote increased production, improve the lives of soldiers; well implement logistics, technical, financial and management and use of defense land in accordance with regulations.
