According to the Ministry of National Defense's Electronic Information Portal on June 27, the Party Committee of the General Staff - Ministry of National Defense Agency has just issued a Resolution leading the last 6 months of 2026.
In the first 6 months of the year, the Party Committee of the General Staff - Ministry of National Defense Agency well implemented research, forecasting, and accurate assessment of the situation; promptly advised the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to effectively handle situations, not to be passive or surprised, firmly protecting the independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Fatherland.
Proactively advise on institutionalizing and concretizing the Party's guidelines, policies, and laws of the State on military and national defense. Advise and submit to the Politburo for approval and implementation of Project 50 of the Central Military Commission; Resolution of the Central Military Commission on adjusting the organization and staffing of the Military Command at commune level to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
Notably, in the field of force building, the General Staff continues to promote its core role in advising and directing the adjustment of force organization, building the Army in a streamlined, compact, and strong direction.
In the first 6 months of the year alone, advising on adjusting the organization and staffing of the Regional Defense Command; adjusting more than 3,400 organizations under agencies and units throughout the army; establishing the Unmanned Vehicle Force; successfully organizing the drawing of experience from local military organization when implementing the two-level local government model.
Military scientific research, science and technology development and innovation continue to have many positive changes. The Party Committee of the General Staff has led and directed the drastic implementation of the annual work theme "Determined to research and produce advanced and modern weapons and equipment", strongly promoting research and development of weapons, technical equipment and improving the potential of national defense science and technology. Many key research tasks on unmanned vehicles, electronic warfare, intelligent control technology and dual-use technology have been effectively implemented.
In the last 6 months of the year - General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense - requested the entire Party Committee to focus on leading the successful implementation of tasks in the last 6 months of the year. The focus is to continue to improve the quality of research and strategic forecasting; proactively grasp and correctly assess the situation, promptly advise on effectively handling military and defense situations, not to be passive or surprised.
Proactively update new achievements of military science and technology, new combat forms; advise on adjusting and supplementing policies and solutions for building forces, building posture and developing Vietnamese military art; link theoretical research with practical summaries, and improve the quality of strategic advice.
Focus on improving the actual effectiveness of the force organization model after adjustment, taking the quality of task completion and combat strength as the main measures. Continue to advise on the strict implementation of the force organization adjustment plan for the period 2026 - 2030; ensure that local military organizations operate stably and effectively when implementing the two-level local government model.
Proactively research and advise on building new forces; consolidate the all-people national defense, solid defense areas; promote the role of militia and self-defense forces, civil defense in responding to non-traditional security challenges, disaster prevention and control, search and rescue.
