Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has just signed Decision No. 1118/QD-TTg appointing Lieutenant General Truong Manh Dung - Commander of Military Region 1 to hold the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.
The above decision takes effect from June 22, 2026.
Previously, according to Decision No. 824 dated April 24, 2025 of the Prime Minister, Major General Truong Manh Dung - Commander of Army Corps 12 was transferred and appointed to the position of Commander of Military Region 1. After that, he was promoted from Major General to Lieutenant General.
Lieutenant General Truong Manh Dung joined the Army in 1987. In 39 years of service, he has worked and developed at the Army Corps for 32 years, growing from the position of Platoon Leader to Commander of the Army Corps.
In all working positions, he always affirmed that he is a cadre with qualifications, capacity, in-depth military knowledge and scientific command methods; daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, always dedicated, responsible and deeply involved in work.
In particular, from January 2022, in his position as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Commander of Army Corps 1 and from November 2023 as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Commander of Army Corps 12, Mr. Truong Manh Dung, together with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Army Corps Command, proposed many guidelines and measures to lead the Army Corps to successfully complete all assigned tasks, including many tasks that were excellently completed.
Lieutenant General Truong Manh Dung has made many valuable contributions in building the 12th Army Corps "lean, compact, strong", moving towards modernization, always respected, studied, and followed by Party committees at all levels, cadres, and soldiers throughout the Army Corps.
