In the middle of the ocean, the Party Committee, government, more than 1,900 people and armed forces in the Tho Chau special zone (An Giang) are joyfully looking forward to the 14th National Party Congress. This is not only a major political event of the nation but also carries many wishes and expectations for a historical transformation for the Fatherland in the era of rise.
Mr. Tran Quoc Giang - Vice Chairman of Tho Chau Special Zone People's Committee said: for the people of Tho Chau, the Party is not only present through the guidelines and policies in the documents, but the Party is present in daily life. General Secretary To Lam during his visit and working trip to Tho Chau (November 19, 2025) directed: "Tho Chau not only brings economic benefits but first of all is a particularly important strategic defense value. We are determined to strive to make Tho Chau Special Zone a proud, sustainable sea and island region, a pillar and development of Vietnam, with the spirit of "Ships heading towards the big sea; keeping the sea, keeping the people, keeping the peace of the Fatherland".
Mr. Huynh Huu Hiep, a 41-year-old party member, shared: "The biggest expectation of the people is that the 14th Congress will continue to firmly maintain the policy of firmly protecting sea and island sovereignty associated with sustainable marine economic development. People want our Party to have specific and breakthrough mechanisms for offshore islands.
As a long-time resident of the island, before the many changes of Tho Chau, Mr. Le Hong Ngu, born in 1959, residing in Bai Ngu hamlet, said: "People are extremely excited about the care of the Party and the State. In the near future, I expect to invest in larger-scale freshwater reservoirs, and electricity systems to ensure people's lives and socio-economic development.
The people of Tho Chau expect the 14th Congress to continue to promote Party building and rectification, building a team of grassroots cadres who truly "believe in the people, respect the people, be close to the people, understand the people, learn from the people and be responsible to the people". The people hope that the cadres who have been, are and will be appointed in the Tho Chau special zone must be brave, not corrupt, wasteful, and above all must have a passionate love for the sea and islands.
With all faith and pride, the people of Tho Chau expect the 14th Congress to be the starting point for a new chapter: A Tho Chau that "shines" in culture and knowledge, "strengthens" in economy and defense, "rises" to become a model island special zone, contributing to affirming the stature of a powerful Vietnam in the East Sea.
With the attention of the Politburo, the direction of the General Secretary and the determination of the local political system, the people of Tho Chau have every right to believe in a future: The frontline island will not only be steadfast in the storms but will truly reach out, contributing to embellishing the new stature of the Vietnamese Fatherland. The government and armed units are concretizing their beliefs with actions, taking people's satisfaction as a measure of effectiveness; continuing to promote the military-civilian tradition like fish and water, building a solid people's heart formation... And thereby calling on everyone to unite to build Tho Chau to become a new bright spot on the border of the Fatherland" - Mr. Tran Quoc Giang, Vice Chairman of Tho Chau Special Zone People's Committee shared.
