On the morning of September 15, implementing the direction of the Politburo, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference on urgently overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 Yagi, quickly stabilizing the people's situation, restoring production and business, and promoting growth.
The conference was connected online from the Government headquarters to localities affected by the storm. Also attending at the bridge points were Deputy Prime Ministers of the Government; leaders of ministries, branches, central agencies; secretaries and chairmen of local People's Committees.
According to reports, storm No. 3 is the strongest storm in the past 30 years in the East Sea and the past 70 years on our mainland, causing extremely heavy damage to people and property of the people and the state.
As of 6:00 a.m. on September 15, 348 people were dead and missing.
In his opening speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that Typhoon Yagi was a historic storm with seven factors: high intensity; high speed; wide range; many affected objects; lasting for many hours when making landfall; causing heavy rain and floods for a long time, over a large area from Thanh Hoa outwards; causing very serious consequences for people, property, both material and spiritual.
Faced with the situation of storms, floods and natural disasters, the Politburo, chaired by General Secretary and President To Lam, met and issued very timely conclusions; Party and State leaders went to localities to directly direct the work of overcoming the consequences of the storm.
The Prime Minister has issued 9 directives with the spirit of closely following the actual situation, responding correctly, accurately, quickly, appropriately, promptly, effectively, continuously updating instructions such as directing flood diversion solutions from upstream to protect Thac Ba hydroelectric dam in Yen Bai, Hoang Long dike in Ninh Binh, closely coordinating and synchronizing between forces and localities, preparing plans to be ready to respond to the worst possible situations.
The Prime Minister commended the Deputy Prime Ministers, members of the Government, leaders of ministries, branches, localities, military and police forces... and the people for their support, consensus and trust in the Party and State for seriously implementing the Central Government's instructions in responding to and overcoming the consequences of storms, floods and natural disasters.
The Prime Minister emphasized that, implementing the conclusion of the Politburo on September 9, the Government Standing Committee organized a conference with localities to make a preliminary assessment of the leadership and direction of response and overcoming the consequences of the storm; deploying solutions for four major goals:
First, urgently overcome the consequences of the storm.
Second, quickly stabilize the people's situation.
Third, restore production and business.
Fourth, promote economic growth.
"We work for national love, compatriotism, all for the people, for the development of the country," the Prime Minister emphasized.
