At the opening session, delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said that through 3 times of organization in 2009, 2012, 2016, the Worldwide Conference of Vietnamese Overseas has created a forum for in-depth exchange between Overseas Vietnamese with the country on strategic issues in building and protecting the Fatherland and content related to the Vietnamese community abroad, truly becoming the "Dien Hong Conference" of the Vietnamese abroad.
"The valuable opinions and many policy recommendations of Vietnamese abroad have been received, studied and transformed into policies and legal regulations by domestic authorities.
The clear evidence is that a series of new policies in the fields of identification, land, housing, real estate business... have been issued in the direction of creating favorable conditions for people returning home to live, work, invest, and do business, which aims to ensure the rights of people abroad are equivalent to those of people in the country" - Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed.
According to Minister Bui Thanh Son, the Vietnamese community abroad has become an important resource in the process of building and developing the country, with quantifiable numbers and “many contributions in terms of intelligence, Intellectually and spiritually, it cannot be measured.”
Also according to Minister Bui Thanh Son, for the first time within the framework of the conference, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presided and coordinated with relevant agencies to organize the Forum of Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts abroad.
This is the direct direction of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh within the framework of his official visit to Australia and New Zealand in March this year, demonstrating the Prime Minister's deep concern for the work of Vietnamese abroad.
"We expect the 4th Conference focusing on the Forum of Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts Abroad in 2024 will be a 'Dien Hong Conference', focusing on collective intelligence, strengthening great solidarity nation, promoting the resources, potential, and strengths of the Vietnamese community abroad for the country's development so that our compatriots at home and abroad can join hands to realize development aspirations prosperous and happy country" - Minister Bui Thanh Son shared.
The 4th worldwide conference of overseas Vietnamese, Forum of Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts Abroad in 2024 with the theme "Vietnamese people abroad join hands to realize the aspiration of national development ” takes place from August 21-24, in Hanoi.
