Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just sent a letter of commendation to Lai Chau Provincial Police for their project to dismantle transnational fraud organizations.
In a letter to Lai Chau Provincial Police, the Prime Minister wrote: "I am pleased to know that immediately after the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime held in Hanoi, Lai Chau Provincial Police have concentrated their forces, deployed drastic professional measures to fight and successfully destroy a transnational criminal ring, operating on a large scale, with locations abroad taking advantage of cyberspace to impersonate police, military and other agencies to defraud and appropriate people's assets with sophisticated and sophisticated tricks".
The investigation determined that the subjects had defrauded and appropriated the assets of 8,000 people with an amount of more than 300 billion VND; the authorities arrested and prosecuted 64 subjects, including the mastermind and leader, and seized many documents, data, and evidence of the case.
This is an outstanding achievement, demonstrating the intelligence, sharpness in operations, ability to fight and prevent crimes using high technology, taking advantage of cyberspace of the People's Public Security force in general and Lai Chau Provincial Police in particular.
The achievements of the comrades are clear evidence of the determination to fight against cybercrime of the Party, State and the Vietnam People's Public Security force, contributing to spreading and creating a positive effect to serve the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime worldwide; at the same time, protecting the dignity of competent authorities and protecting people's property.
On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister warmly congratulated, commended and highly appreciated the achievements of the officers and soldiers participating in performing the tasks.
The head of the Government requested the Ministry of Public Security, based on current regulations, to promptly take forms of commendation and propose worthy commendations for collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in fighting the above-mentioned project; direct the authorities to step up propaganda to raise vigilance for people to prevent crimes.
At the same time, promote the achieved results, continue to fight and strongly suppress all types of crimes, including cybercrime, organized crime, and transnational activities.
