Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just sent a letter of commendation to the Minister of National Defense, Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, Commander of the Engineering Corps, highly appreciating the determination and sense of responsibility of the "miraculous" units to complete the pontoon bridge across the Lo River, opening traffic on the morning of the 29th of Tet, bringing joy, excitement, and happiness to the people.
In the letter, the Prime Minister wrote: Through information reflected by the people and the press, in the face of the dangerous degradation of the Lo River bridge in Doan Hung commune, Phu Tho province, causing difficulties for people when participating in traffic; on February 14, 2026, the Prime Minister held a meeting on overcoming damage to the Lo River bridge.
At the same time, the Prime Minister assigned the Minister of National Defense to direct units and forces to coordinate with Phu Tho province to urgently organize the construction of a pontoon bridge across the Lo River to promptly serve people's travel during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026 and develop socio-economy while waiting to overcome the consequences of the old Lo River bridge, preparing to invest in the new Lo River bridge according to the plan.
Just a few hours after receiving the direction from the Prime Minister, the Minister of National Defense focused on directing the Engineering Corps, relevant agencies and units to urgently survey and construct together with the Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee and complete the installation of a pontoon bridge across the Lo River, opening traffic on the morning of February 16, 2026 (December 29th of the lunar calendar), earlier than the Prime Minister requested, bringing joy, excitement, and happiness to the people.
On behalf of the Government, I acknowledge, highly appreciate and warmly commend the determination, high sense of responsibility and "lightning speed" deployment progress of the Ministry of National Defense, the Engineering Corps, and relevant agencies and units for closely coordinating with Party committees at all levels, local authorities, and people of Phu Tho province to excellently complete the assigned tasks" - the Prime Minister wrote in the letter of commendation.
This action shows the spirit of "for the people forgetting oneself" of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers", showing the good nature of our Army from the people, fighting for the people, and blood ties with the people.
The Prime Minister requested the Minister of National Defense to proactively and promptly commend and propose appropriate forms of commendation for the Engineering Corps Command, related units, organizations, and individuals according to regulations.
Continue to direct agencies and units to uphold the spirit of responsibility, closely coordinate with Phu Tho province to ensure absolute safety and smooth traffic for people when participating in traffic through pontoon bridges, especially during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday.
At the same time, requesting the Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee to urgently complete the necessary procedures to soon start construction of the new Lo River bridge in accordance with the spirit of the Prime Minister's conclusion at the meeting on February 14, 2026.
