Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Yunnan holds a very important position in the overall Vietnam-China relationship.

Within the framework of attending the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion Cooperation Summit and working in China, on November 6, in Kunming city, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Wang Ning.

According to the Government Newspaper, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Yunnan holds a very important position in the overall Vietnam-China relationship. Vietnam and Yunnan have many potentials, advantages and favorable conditions for developing cooperation, have many complementary advantages, and at the same time, the desire and need of both sides in trade and exchange are very large.

The Prime Minister suggested that Yunnan take the lead in implementing high-level common perceptions and joint statements, increase exchanges with Vietnamese localities; strive to increase Vietnam-Yunnan trade turnover to 5 billion USD, making Yunnan and Lao Cai become the center of trade connection between China and ASEAN; promote the pilot implementation of the smart border gate model; strengthen coordination in flood discharge regulation, natural disaster prevention and control; and create favorable conditions for procedures for Vietnamese citizens living in Yunnan.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the two sides will closely coordinate in border management and protection according to the three documents on land borders and related agreements, and coordinate to well organize activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Land Border Treaty and the 15th anniversary of the signing of the three legal documents on land borders in 2024.

Agreeing with the important opinions of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Wang Ning expressed his welcome and honor to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Government to visit Yunnan province.

Secretary Vuong Ninh affirmed that Yunnan attaches importance to the friendly and cooperative relationship with Vietnam; is ready to work with Vietnamese ministries, branches and localities to effectively implement the common perception of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and General Secretary To Lam, as well as the instructions and proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; increase delegation exchanges at all levels, effectively promote the role of existing cooperation mechanisms, especially the meeting mechanism between the Secretaries of the five provinces, deepen economic and trade cooperation, make good use of railway projects connecting the two countries, and strengthen the connection of railway and road infrastructure.

Secretary Wang Ning said that Yunnan wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in areas where Yunnan has strengths such as green energy, highland agriculture, and tourism; at the same time, promote economic, trade, border economic cooperation, and cooperation in developing advanced manufacturing industries; closely cooperate in areas such as personnel training, poverty reduction, environmental protection, and sustainable development; promote cooperation in the fields of health, culture, and education, contributing to consolidating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam.
