During his official visit to the State of Qatar, on the morning of November 1, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the Ras Laffan Industrial Zone, 80 km north of the capital Doha, invested by Qatar Energy Group.
Ras Laffan Industrial Zone is home to many large Qatari refineries and gas processing plants such as ORYX GTL, Pearl GTL, Dolphin...
With a harbor and a closed artificial bay covering 4,500 hectares of water surface, Ras Laffan Industrial Zone has become the main liquefied gas production site of all of Qatar and the largest liquefied gas export facility in the world.
Ras Laffan was put into operation in 1996 to store and process natural gas from the North Field. Over time, industrial plants serving the production of liquefied natural gas at Ras Laffan increased in response to demand, transforming Ras Laffan into a large-scale industrial zone.
Currently, there are 13 large corporations and companies in the gas production industry operating here. Besides factories and industrial zones, Ras Laffan also has a number of other infrastructures such as the Ras Laffan Safety and Emergency Training Center, Erhama bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard, Ras Laffan Hospital... with top quality in Qatar.
Visiting Ras Laffan Industrial Park, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated Qatar for its breakthrough thinking, strategic vision and intelligence in building an artificial bay and modern specialized industrial park.
Noting that Vietnam has a coastline of more than 3,000 km, is developing many large seaports and building land reclamation areas, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that Qatar in general and Qatar Energy Group in particular cooperate, invest, and support Vietnam with experience, finance, science and technology, human resource training, and management science to develop similar industrial parks and land reclamation areas.
This is the last activity of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Qatar, also the last activity of his official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE); attending the 8th Future Investment Initiative Conference and working visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and official visit to the State of Qatar.
At noon of the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, left Doha and headed home.
