On May 13, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his pleasure at the real and clear development steps in Vietnam -France relations since the two countries upgraded relations to the comprehensive strategic partner on the visit of France of General Secretary and President To Lam in October. Emphasizing that Vietnam always attaches great importance to promoting the relationship with France, the first comprehensive strategic partner of Vietnam in the EU and affirms the willingness to promote strategic reliability and further deepen many aspects between the two countries.
The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides review and concretize the high-level agreements reached during General Secretary To Lam's recent visit to France, as well as promote and prepare well for the upcoming high-level visits; promote cooperation in economy, trade, investment, culture, heritage, architecture, education and training... and expand in new areas such as cyber security, artificial intelligence, aerospace, green transformation, nuclear energy and human resource training.
The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides make efforts to soon sign inter-governmental agreements and documents on health, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and other important cooperation documents to match the stature of the relationship and the relationship between the two countries.
Ambassador Olivier Brochet thanked the Prime Minister for taking the time to meet; affirmed that Vietnam is one of France's important priority partners in the Asia-Pacific region and emphasized his desire to further strengthen relations with Vietnam and ASEAN.
Expressing agreement with the Prime Minister's proposals, the French Ambassador suggested that the two sides continue to coordinate closely to further deepen the Vietnam - France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and at the same time propose specific cooperation projects in the fields of security - defense, infrastructure, transportation, urban railways, minerals, etc.
The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen cooperation in multilateral forums and international organizations, especially the United Nations, the Francophone International Organization, and the ASEAN-EU cooperation framework.
The Prime Minister suggested that France, with its role and influence in the EU, continue to act as a bridge to further promote Vietnam - EU relations; affirmed that Vietnam is ready to accompany France and the international community in common efforts to promote multilateralism, uphold international law, support French ideas and initiatives to address regional and global challenges, especially in responding to climate change and protecting the environment, ensuring aviation and maritime security.
