Local groups leading the country in attracting FDI
On January 14, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the 5th Conference of the Red River Delta Coordination Council and announced the Hanoi Capital Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, and the Adjustment of the Hanoi Capital Master Plan to 2045, with a vision to 2065.
At the Conference, the Ministry of Planning and Investment reported on the socio-economic situation in 2024 in the Red River Delta region; the implementation of activities of the Red River Delta Coordination Council in 2024, and the planned activities for 2025. Delegates attending the meeting had many profound, responsible, dedicated, appropriate, feasible, and practical contributions.
Over the past time, the economy of the Red River Delta has always made great contributions to the whole country. In 2024, in the context of many difficulties and challenges in the international and domestic situation, the regional economy still achieved many positive results in all aspects, higher than in 2023.
There are 4 localities (Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hanoi) in the group of 5 leading localities nationwide in attracting FDI. Of which, Bac Ninh is leading, Quang Ninh has made a breakthrough for the first time to rank 2nd nationwide in attracting FDI in 2024.
Regarding the activities of the Regional Coordination Council, reports and opinions at the evaluation conference showed that with 5 conferences held, the Council's activities have been on the right track in overcoming obstacles and difficulties and reaching the set goals, with important results.
Many other key projects in the Region are being urgently implemented to meet the set progress such as: Ring Road 4 - Capital Region; expressway through Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh and urgently completing ports No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, No. 6 in Lach Huyen, coastal routes to soon open the entire route from Quang Ninh to Nghe An, routes with regional and inter-regional connectivity.
Handling air pollution and traffic congestion in Hanoi
In his concluding remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh basically agreed with the reports and opinions at the conference and, on behalf of the Government, acknowledged, highly appreciated and commended the efforts and important results of localities in the Red River Delta region in recent times, making important contributions to the country's overall achievements.
Besides the very basic results achieved, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pointed out that the Red River Delta still has some bottlenecks and bottlenecks.
Accordingly, air pollution, traffic congestion, and river environment are urgent issues. The current growth model has not caught up with the trend of the times, the regional economy has not developed commensurate with the potential, advantages, position, and especially important role of the region. Industrial development and FDI projects still have limitations, and value chains and industry clusters have not been formed...
Regarding urgent issues, the Prime Minister requested Hanoi and localities to immediately develop and implement projects to mobilize resources to handle air pollution and traffic congestion in Hanoi, revive dead rivers, ensure food safety for people, etc., report to the Government on mechanisms and resources, and complete in the first quarter of 2025. At the same time, focus on mobilizing development resources and disbursing public investment.
For the Regional Coordination Council, the Prime Minister requested each member, Ministries, agencies and localities in the Region to promote the highest responsibility, continue to be more active and proactive in implementing tasks and solutions, and better perform assigned tasks to strongly and effectively promote regional coordination activities, so that each conference of the Council is a happy day, achieving specific results, overcoming the limitations, inadequacies and weaknesses that the previous meeting pointed out and proposing breakthrough solutions to prioritize double-digit growth.
