The Government Office has just issued Notice No. 203/TB-VPCP on the conclusion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his working trip and working with ministries and localities on the investment situation in developing the transport infrastructure system in the Mekong Delta region. In particular, the Tran De port project in Soc Trang province was noted and requested for review.
The Prime Minister asked the People's Committee of Soc Trang Province to review the proposal of investment plans and investment capital of Tran De Port, and send it to the Ministry of Finance to consider and report to the Prime Minister in May May 525; The Ministry of Construction presides over the review of the functions, tasks and functions of Tran De Port in the Mekong Delta region.

During a working session with the Prime Minister on the investment situation in developing the transport infrastructure system in the Mekong Delta region on April 21, Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province Tran Van Lau reported in detail on the Tran De seaport project.
According to Mr. Lau, Tran De seaport is responsible for serving the entire Mekong Delta region. The project is included in the planning of Vietnam's seaport. Resolution 13 of the Politburo also identifies this as the gateway seaport to the Mekong Delta.
Regarding this project, Soc Trang province has previously sent a document requesting the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to consider and submit to the Government to support VND19,000 billion from the state budget to invest in bridges, dredging canals and other basic infrastructure. However, up to now, the province has not received opinions from ministries, so we hope that the Prime Minister will give us instructions and orientations.
According to the plan, Tran De seaport has a total area of over 4,435 hectares, including a 4,000-hectare logistics area and a 435-hectare offshore port area. The port is designed with an overseas port of 17.8 km, a 9,800 m breakwater system, capable of receiving container ships with a capacity of up to 100,000 DWT and cargo ships with a capacity of up to 160,000 DWT.
The total estimated cost for the launching phase of the Tran De seaport project is 44,965 billion VND. Of which, the proposed state budget capital to invest in 3 component projects ( overpasses, connecting roads and breakwaters) is VND 19,403 billion, accounting for about 43% of the total capital. The remaining capital is expected to be mobilized from private enterprises.
