According to the Central External Relations Commission, at the talks, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his belief that the visit of General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife will be a great success, bringing the Vietnam-Laos relationship to new heights.
Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his deep sympathy for the heavy loss of life and property caused by Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam and believed that under the leadership of the Party and State, the people of Vietnam's localities will soon overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
General Secretary and President To Lam and General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith affirmed that they will continue the glorious historical tradition of the two nations, together preserving, protecting and constantly cultivating the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos to develop more deeply, practically and effectively in all fields, for the benefit of the people of each country, for peace, stability and development of the region and the world.
General Secretary and President To Lam and General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith discussed in depth directions to promote cooperation to develop Vietnam - Laos relations in depth, practically and effectively in all fields.
Accordingly, the two sides will continue to deepen political relations, enhance mutual understanding, consolidate trust, and serve as the core to guide the overall cooperation between the two countries; maintain visits, meetings, and high-level exchanges between senior leaders of the two parties and two countries; enhance information sharing, exchange, and coordination on strategic issues, theoretical exchanges, especially new issues; promote propaganda and education about the tradition of the special Vietnam-Laos relationship as well as the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia relationship among all classes of people, especially the young generation of the two countries.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen the pillars of defense and security cooperation, ensuring a solid foundation for each other to effectively deal with increasingly diverse and complex security challenges; actively and effectively implement the Protocols and Plans for defense and security cooperation, contributing to maintaining political stability in each country.
The two General Secretaries and Presidents agreed to make common efforts to promote breakthroughs and improve the effectiveness of economic, cultural, scientific and technological cooperation on the basis of exploiting and maximizing the potential and strengths of each country, promoting the practical connection of the two economies in terms of institutions, infrastructure, transportation, telecommunications, and tourism, to create long-term cooperation and development for both countries, while promoting the connection of the three economies of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia as agreed by the Governments of the three countries. Closely coordinate and remove difficulties and obstacles to effectively implement key projects of mutual interest.
