On the afternoon of May 30, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-level delegation, met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore and a large number of overseas Vietnamese, including many Vietnamese experts and intellectuals living, studying and working in Singapore.
General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his pleasure to meet overseas Vietnamese after his visit to Singapore in March 2025 and said that this visit takes place in the context of the cooperative relationship between the two countries developing very dynamically, practically and effectively, becoming a successful cooperation model in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Singapore is Vietnam's leading important economic partner in the fields of investment, trade and connectivity, as well as actively supporting Vietnam in human resource training.
In particular, Vietnam's keynote speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue, the leading security forum in the Asia-Pacific region, demonstrated the international community's respect and appreciation for Vietnam's increasingly important role, position, prestige and contribution to peace, cooperation and development in the region and in the world.
The General Secretary and President welcomed the active role of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese Community in Singapore in supporting and connecting the community and preserving national cultural identity; highly appreciated the spirit of responsibility and dedication of the team of Vietnamese experts, intellectuals, and scientists in Singapore in connecting and implementing activities and projects to transfer knowledge, research, and develop science and technology with domestically.
The General Secretary and President wished the Vietnamese community in Singapore to continue to unite, develop, look towards their homeland, preserve Vietnamese and national cultural identity; continue to be an important bridge to promote Vietnam-Singapore friendship; the team of Vietnamese experts and intellectuals in Singapore continue to participate in training and developing high-quality human resources, actively contributing to the development of science and technology and innovation in strategic fields, creating breakthrough momentum to help the country soon achieve the development goals set by the 14th Party Congress.
Emphasizing that the Party and State always care for and care for the Vietnamese community abroad, the General Secretary and President affirmed that domestic functional agencies will continue to improve policies for Vietnamese people abroad to better meet the legitimate aspirations of compatriots abroad, as well as create more favorable conditions for investment, business, research, startups, knowledge transfer and preservation of the Vietnamese language and national cultural identity...
The General Secretary and President praised the collective of officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore for their efforts in successfully completing foreign affairs and community work tasks; and at the same time requested the Embassy to continue to pay attention to and support the activities of Vietnamese associations in Singapore, strengthen connectivity between people and the country to implement specific projects.
