General Secretary and President To Lam hopes Sri Lanka will expand incentives for Vietnamese businesses

General Secretary and President To Lam wished the Sri Lankan Parliament to pass preferential policies for Vietnamese businesses to invest.

Continuing activities within the framework of the State visit to Sri Lanka, on May 8, in the capital Colombo, General Secretary and President To Lam met with Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament Jagath Wickramaratne.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Jagath Wickramaratne affirmed that Sri Lanka - Vietnam relations are a traditional friendly relationship, with long-standing attachment from early cultural and religious contacts; the two sides always support and help each other in difficult periods, fighting against foreign invaders, and gaining national independence.

National Assembly Chairman Jagath Wickramaratne hopes that in the coming time, the two countries will continue to strengthen cooperation further, bringing practical benefits to the two countries and people of both sides. National Assembly Chairman Jagath Wickramaratne emphasized that General Secretary and President To Lam's speech before the Sri Lankan Parliament today is of historical significance. The speech not only inspired parliamentarians in the Sri Lankan Parliament but also voters in this country, containing many valuable lessons for Sri Lanka in the process of national development.

General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his pleasure to revisit the beautiful country of Sri Lanka in his new position, witnessing the stable and solid development steps of Sri Lanka; highly appreciated the role of the Sri Lankan Parliament in adopting policies and legal frameworks to create conditions for economic recovery, promote reform and ensure social security.

Expressing gratitude to the Chairman of the National Assembly and the Sri Lankan Parliament for inviting him to speak at the important session, General Secretary and President To Lam hoped that the speech would share many contents of concern to Sri Lankan parliamentarians about Vietnam's development experience as well as suggestions for relations between the two countries in the coming time.

Emphasizing the important role of cooperation between the National Assemblies of the two countries, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his hope that the two sides will strengthen close cooperation, soon sign cooperation agreements, coordinate with each other to effectively supervise the implementation of high-level agreements and signed documents/cooperation agreements, especially economic cooperation to achieve the target of 1 billion USD in trade turnover, and share experiences in building institutions and perfecting the legal system for the development of the digital economy and digital society.

General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his wish that the Sri Lankan Parliament would approve preferential policies for Vietnamese businesses to invest in Sri Lanka in the fields of infrastructure, services, tourism, electric vehicles, technology, and telecommunications; creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese airlines to soon open direct flights connecting the two countries.

The General Secretary and President also hoped that Sri Lanka would continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living, studying, and doing business in Sri Lanka, including Vietnamese monks and nuns to participate in studying Buddhism.
