Updated data from Box Office Vietnam on February 17 (the 1st day of Tet) shows that Tran Thanh's movie "Thỏ ơi!!" continues to lead with a large gap, while "Báu vật trời cho" attracts attention when rising to third place after a rather slow start period.
On February 17, the movie "Thỏ ơi!!" grossed about 13.2 billion VND, selling more than 135,000 tickets with nearly 3,700 screenings. This figure far surpasses the remaining competitors, showing a clear advantage in terms of interest and distribution system. Calculating the current total revenue and early ticket sales, the movie has reached about 20.4 billion VND, consolidating its leading position in the Tet box office this year.
Next is Truong Giang's movie "My Father's House, One Room". On the 1st day of Tet, the movie reached about 4.1 billion VND, equivalent to 1/3 of the revenue of "Thỏ ơi!!", with more than 42,000 tickets and about 1,600 screenings. The current total revenue of the work is about 6.6 billion VND. Despite the quite large gap, the movie still holds the second position thanks to the advantage of the director-actor brand familiar to the general audience.
The most notable competition lies in the bottom group. The movie "Heaven's Gift" on the 1st day reached about 1.6 billion VND, slightly higher than "Mui Pho" with about 1.4 billion VND, temporarily surpassing the third position in the box office. Previously, during the early ticket booking period, the movie "Heaven's Gift" was often at the bottom of the list, so this ranking swap is considered a positive sign for the movie.
Calculating the current total revenue, the movie "Mui pho" reached about 3.8 billion VND, higher than "Bau vat troi cho" with about 2.4 billion VND. This shows that the race in the middle group is still taking place, because the total revenue gap between the two films is not too far and may change depending on the audience's reaction in the coming days.
Overall, the advantage of the movie "Thỏ ơi!!" comes not only from the content being noticed but also from the strong media campaign covering social networks, along with overwhelming screenings. In the opening stage, these two factors often determine initial revenue, helping the movie create "push" before the word-of-mouth effect takes effect.
The remaining films are facing the problem of competition for screening slots. When the cinema system prioritizes good ticket sales works, the revenue gap may continue to widen if the audience does not increase rapidly. However, Tet box office history shows many cases of films accelerating thanks to positive feedback after a few days of screening, especially in the family - comedy film group.
