General Secretary To Lam stated the goal of striving for each citizen to have a health check at least once a year and gradually raise the average life expectancy of the people.

On the afternoon of April 15, in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam and the leaders of the Party and the State had a meeting to meet the old revolutionary cadres, people with meritorious services, typical policy families on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Attending the meeting were the Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of Propaganda Department and Central Mobilization Nguyen Trong Nghia; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; General Phan Van Giang - Minister of Defense; General Luong Tam Quang - Minister of Public Security; Hanoi Party Committee Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai. Attending were leaders and former leaders of the Party and State.

Expressing the emotion at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that during the past 50 years and these historical days, we all reviewed the glorious and heroic tradition of the resistance war against the US to save the country, the ingenious leadership of the Party, the greatness of President Ho Chi Minh, the heroic, resilient, indomitable, the great sacrifice of the whole nation for the goal of unifying the country.

"No literature can fully reflect the greatness of our nation. No word can express all the will and great strength of our people, our country in the aspiration of Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one" - General Secretary To Lam emphasized.

Emphasizing the journey of nearly a century under the leadership of the Party, General Secretary reviews the great achievements of the country that the country has achieved.

The scale of the economy in 2024 reached over 470 billion USD, ranked 34th in the world and is among the top 20 economies of international trade. The position and prestige of the country are increasingly spreading, making positive contributions to the resolution of regional and global problems.

General Secretary To Lam said that from the school year 2025-2026, the State will exempt tuition for children from kindergarten to high school. Many social policies show the superiority of socialism will continue to be implemented and applied to improve the quality of daily life of the people, especially for workers, the elderly, the weak in society, people with meritorious services to the country so that no one is left behind.

Emphasizing the health care programs for the people are also concerned by the Party and the Government, many subjects are supported with health insurance, the General Secretary stated the goal "strive for each year to be checked at least once"; Striving to raise the average life expectancy of people from 74.5 years old to 80 years old in 2045-2050.

All administrative procedures, all issues related to the people must be at the commune level

General Secretary To Lam also said that the 11th Central Conference ended on April 12 was considered a historic conference in the revolutionary journey of our country.

Merging commune-level administrative units to ensure a decrease in 60-70% of the current number of administrative units at the commune level and not in the district level.

General Secretary To Lam stated that the current project of building a 2 -level government, of which the provincial level manages common and especially must decentralize the degradation of the commune.
