On September 21, the Vietnam National Industrial - Energy Group (Petrovietnam) solemnly held a ceremony to receive the First Class Labor Medal and celebrate its 50th anniversary (September 3, 1975 - September 3, 2025).
General Secretary To Lam attended the ceremony. Also attending were Politburo members: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac; Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh; General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang - Minister of Public Security; Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai.
Also attending were members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of the Government, the National Assembly, agencies of central and local departments, ministries, branches and many generations of leaders and workers in the oil and gas sector through the ages.
The celebration is an opportunity to look back on the 50-year journey of construction and development full of difficulties and challenges but also very proud; affirming important achievements and contributions to the development of the country.
At the same time, it established a mission and vision for the new development stage with greater goals and aspirations for a strong and powerful Vietnam in the new era.
In each stage of the country's development, the Party and State have always paid special attention to the development strategy of the Vietnamese oil and gas industry; including 3 resolutions and 3 conclusions of the Politburo as strategic orientations, important throughout the development process of Petrovietnam.
Up to now, after 50 years of accompanying the country, under the leadership of the Party and State, Petrovietnam has completed the mission of building and developing a synchronous and modern oil and gas industry on par with the region and the world.
From research, exploration, exploitation, gas industry to oil and gas processing and distribution industry, electricity and renewable energy industry, high-quality technical services, the spinal energy infrastructure system has been formed, the National strategy - the driving force for the country's socio-economic development.
After 50 years, the most important strategic turning point is Petrovietnam's mission transformation. The renaming from the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group to the Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group not only changes the identification but also is a deep strategic repositioning.
This change is established by policy orientations at the highest level, especially from Conclusion No. 76-KL/TW of the Politburo, which has oriented the new development of the oil and gas industry and Petrovietnam in the new context.
Petrovietnam's new mission is determined according to a dual strategy: "optimizing oil and gas energy sources, sustainably developing new energy sources".
Accordingly, the goal by 2030 is for Petrovietnam to be one of the 500 largest enterprises in the world (Fortune Global 500); leading the formation of National Energy Industrial Centers, becoming a symbol of Vietnamese intelligence, discipline and aspiration.
By 2050, Petrovietnam will become an integrated, green - digital - smart Industry - Energy Group, among the leading groups in the region, with a global position.
Within the framework of the Ceremony, Petrovietnam opened the Science - Technology Exhibition displaying outstanding scientific and technological achievements in 50 years. The exhibits on display and introduced at the exhibition are typical of achievements and contributions to science and technology, affirming Petrovietnam's core capacity platform in the process of national development.
