On the occasion of attending the Opening Conference of the Peace Council in Washington D.C., on the morning of February 20 (local time), General Secretary To Lam had a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
In an open and friendly atmosphere, the two sides exchanged many contents in cooperation between the two countries as well as world and regional issues of mutual concern.
At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam congratulated the US and President Donald Trump on successfully organizing the Opening Meeting of the Gaza Peace Council.
The General Secretary emphasized that Vietnam is one of the first countries to accept the invitation to participate in the peace council, ready to coordinate with the US and members of the Peace Council to implement the Peace Plan.
The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam always values and wishes to promote the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to develop stably, substantively, and effectively. The two leaders were pleased with the positive results in political - diplomatic, economic - trade cooperation, overcoming war consequences, science - technology, education - training and people-to-people exchanges...

General Secretary To Lam requested the two sides to strengthen delegation exchanges and high-level contacts. Exchanging views on economy and trade, the General Secretary emphasized that this is a key pillar in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; wishing the two sides to continue to have frank and substantive dialogue on existing issues in the spirit of balancing and harmonizing interests, in accordance with the conditions and legitimate interests of each side, for the benefit of businesses and people of the two countries.
President Donald Trump congratulated General Secretary To Lam on being re-elected as General Secretary of the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; expressed his pleasure to welcome the General Secretary to the White House.
President Trump expressed his love for the Vietnamese people and General Secretary To Lam personally. President Trump reiterated the US commitment to supporting a "strong, independent, self-reliant, prosperous" Vietnam.
President Trump welcomed and thanked Vietnam for announcing its participation in the Peace Council; highly appreciated General Secretary To Lam's direct participation in the opening meeting of the Peace Council, saying that this shows Vietnam's increasing role and position in the international arena, as well as Vietnam's strong commitment to peace, stability and global cooperation.
