This morning (September 10), in Hanoi, the General Department of Engineering, Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its traditional day (September 10, 1974 - September 10, 2024) and receive the Ho Chi Minh Medal, according to VNA.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam congratulated and commended the achievements of the General Department of Engineering over the past 50 years.
Promoting the glorious tradition of the past 50 years, General Secretary and President To Lam requested that the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Engineering and the Army Engineering Sector in the coming time should focus on thoroughly grasping the policies, guidelines and viewpoints of the Party, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on the task of protecting the Fatherland, military and defense tasks and building the Army.
Officers and soldiers are deeply aware that adjusting the organization of the Army in general and the Army Engineering sector in particular is an inevitable and objective requirement; actively implementing the merger of the General Department of Logistics and the General Department of Engineering according to the roadmap, ensuring "refined, compact, strong", capable of completing all tasks, meeting the requirements and tasks of military, national defense and building the Army in the new period.
General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that in the "new era", the military engineering sector must be the leading force in scientific and technological innovation, in absorbing the latest and most modern achievements of human intelligence to apply to the development of Vietnam's military engineering and the task of industrialization of the country.
Products of the General Department of Technology must be specialized products, dual-use products researched, developed and produced in the spirit of "Self-reliance, self-confidence, autonomy, self-strengthening, and national pride".
Along with that, General Secretary and President To Lam said that it is necessary to strengthen innovation to improve the quality of political and ideological education; build cadres and soldiers with steadfast political will, always clearly aware of their tasks, not afraid of difficulties, ready to receive and excellently complete tasks; maintain and promote the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", promote studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.
The General Secretary and President said that the Military Engineering sector, first of all, research centers and institutes, need to closely coordinate with agencies and units inside and outside the Army to promote research and development of military science and technology suitable to Vietnam's specific conditions; aiming to solve urgent requirements in exploiting, repairing, improving, and modernizing weapons and technical equipment, especially high-tech weapons and technical equipment.
Research and apply new technologies and new materials to the preservation and storage of weapons and technical equipment, and the design, manufacture and production of technical supplies; be ready to receive technology transfer with foreign partners to create new breakthroughs in military engineering work.
On this occasion, General Secretary and President To Lam requested the Central Military Commission , the Ministry of National Defense, agencies and units inside and outside the Army to continue to pay attention, lead, direct, coordinate, encourage and create the most favorable conditions for officers and soldiers of the General Department of Engineering and the Army Engineering sector to excellently complete their tasks in the new situation.
