According to the program of the 8th Session of the National Assembly, on the afternoon of November 27, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, authorized by the Prime Minister, presented a Report on continuing the investment policy for the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project.
Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment Le Quang Huy presented the Verification Report on continuing the investment policy for the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project.
On the afternoon of November 12, at the question and answer session, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reported an overview of the socio-economic situation in the first 10 months of 2024.
The Prime Minister said that the Government proposed to the competent authority to restart the nuclear power project. The Government reported to the Politburo for approval on the policy of restarting nuclear power; submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and amendment of the Electricity Law to create institutional breakthroughs, remove obstacles, and develop power sources and grids.
On November 25, at the Central Conference, there was a basic agreement on the policy of restarting the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project and continuing to research the nuclear power program in Vietnam.
This aims to firmly ensure national energy security, meet socio-economic development goals, enhance scientific and technological potential and sustainable national development.
The Central Committee assigned the Politburo to direct relevant agencies and localities to research and develop a project to develop nuclear power in Vietnam in the coming time.
In the immediate future, the Central Government believes that it is necessary to continue studying the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant Project and report to competent authorities for consideration and decision.
Concluding the Central Conference, General Secretary To Lam said that the Central Executive Committee highly agreed with the policy of restarting the Nuclear Power Program in Vietnam and continuing to study the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project.
The General Secretary stressed that this is an important task to develop the national energy infrastructure, meeting the requirements of national development. This work needs to be carried out urgently, meeting the highest requirements of ensuring safety and environmental protection.
The Central Executive Committee assigned the Politburo to direct agencies to urgently and synchronously implement solutions to complete the national energy infrastructure, meeting the country's development requirements in the new situation.
