Binh Thuan - Many names at agencies on Phu Quy island have been changed from district to Phu Quy Special Zone and changed the name of the province to Lam Dong.

On June 26, it was noted that at the headquarters of the agencies on Phu Quy island, the names of the tables had been constructed to change the content. At Phu Quy District Party Committee, the nameplate has completed the change to Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, below which is the words Phu Quy Special Zone Party Committee. The address has also been changed to Phu Quy Special Zone, Lam Dong Province.

At the gate of the headquarters of the People's Committee of Phu Quy district, some workers are constructing a nameplate of the People's Council and the People's Committee of Phu Quy Special Zone.

Phu Quy Special Zone will officially operate on July 1, 2025 - the time of operating the two-level local government across the country.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Thien Tam - Chairman of the Phu Quy District Labor Federation (which will end its operation from July 1, 2025) said that the situation of cadres, union members, and workers on Phu Quy island is still normal and in a willing spirit to accept the name Phu Quy Special Zone and the new provincial name Lam Dong with development expectations.

Previously, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 1671/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Lam Dong province in 2025. After the arrangement, Lam Dong province has 124 commune-level administrative units, including 103 communes, 20 wards, 1 special zone.

In which, Phu Quy Special Zone, based on the merger of Long Hai commune, Ngu Phung commune and Tam Thanh commune, the administrative - political center is located in Ngu Phung commune, with a natural area of 18.02 km2 and a population of 32,268 people.

Phu Quy Island is located about 56 nautical miles southeast of the mainland (Phan Thiet). With 12 large and small islands, Phu Quy has great potential for marine economy, especially in exploitation, cage farming, and seafood processing. In recent years, Phu Quy has changed strongly thanks to the development of marine tourism.
