On June 8, after the official welcoming ceremony, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and the high-level delegation of the two countries held talks at the Government Headquarters.
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung highly appreciated the significance of Prime Minister Hun Manet's visit and participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF-3) contributing to strengthening political trust, deepening the traditional friendly relations between Vietnam and Cambodia, and promoting solidarity, cooperation and connectivity within ASEAN, for peace and cooperation in the region and in the world.
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung emphasized Vietnam's consistent policy of always valuing and giving high priority to the relationship of "Good Neighborhood, Traditional Friendship, Comprehensive Cooperation, Long-term Sustainability" Vietnam - Cambodia.
Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed the Cambodian Government's commitment to coordinate with the Vietnamese Government to effectively implement the results of the High-Level Meeting between the Politburo, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the CPP Standing Committee and the Meeting of the Heads of the three Parties Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos in February 2026 and the high-level agreement commitments between the two countries.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive developments of Vietnam-Cambodia relations in the past time.
In the spirit of substantive transformation from "traditional affection" to "driving force for development" and bringing "historical closeness" to "strategic closeness", the two sides exchanged views on major directions to promote the connection between Vietnam and Cambodia in the coming time.
The two sides agreed to constantly consolidate the foundation of political trust, close security and defense cooperation, reaffirming the consistent implementation of the principle of not allowing hostile forces to use one country's territory to sabotage and threaten the security and interests of the other; strengthen the connection between the two economies; promote cultural, educational and tourism connections.
The two sides agreed on many contents on infrastructure connection, border connection, border gates, agreed to promote the connection of Ho Chi Minh City/Moc Bai - Bavet/Phnom Penh expressway, study to expand air routes connecting Vietnam - Cambodia, Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia, study to build special economic zones, cross-border economic zones; agreed to facilitate customs clearance of goods between the two countries.
Prime Minister Hun Manet fully agreed with the proposals of Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on creating conditions for businesses of the two countries to invest in fields where the two sides have strengths and needs, such as agricultural product processing, aquaculture, clean energy, construction materials, logistics; expanding cooperation in education and training, improving the quality of human resources.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to assign ministries, branches, and relevant agencies of the two countries to develop plans, measures and specific roadmaps to concretize the contents agreed upon by the two sides at the talks.
At the end of the talks, the two Prime Ministers witnessed the handover ceremony of documents on the Cooperation Plan in the field of information for the period 2026 - 2030 between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Information of Cambodia.
