On July 28, at the National Assembly House, after the official welcoming ceremony, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with Chairman of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia Samdech Khuon Sudary.
In a friendly, cordial and trusting atmosphere, the two National Assembly Chairmen shared about the socio-economic development situation in each country; and exchanged practical and effective measures to promote cooperative relations between the two countries and the two National Assemblies in the coming time.
The two sides affirmed that they always value and prioritize bilateral relations between the two countries, in which National Assembly cooperation is an important channel; agreed to continue to closely coordinate to effectively implement commitments and agreements between the leaders of the two Parties and the two countries; strengthen delegation exchanges, improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms; promote connectivity of transport infrastructure, border gates, logistics and supply chains; facilitate trade and investment, strive to bring bilateral trade turnover to soon reach the target of 20 billion USD, accelerate border demarcation and marker planting and coordinate to ensure a border of peace, stability and development.
The two sides agreed to coordinate in organizing good activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vietnam - Cambodia diplomatic relations (1967-2027), promote propaganda and education of the tradition of solidarity and friendship between the two nations, especially for the young generation; emphasizing that this is a historical value that needs to be protected and preserved by generations of people of the two countries.
Highly appreciating the good relationship between the legislative bodies of the two countries on both bilateral and multilateral levels, the two National Assembly Chairmen agreed to continue to coordinate to well implement exchange activities and share experiences in areas of mutual concern, especially building and perfecting institutions, legal systems, supreme supervision; strengthen cooperation between specialized committees, Friendship Parliamentary Groups, female National Assembly deputies and young National Assembly deputies; strengthen coordination in supervising the implementation of cooperation agreements between the two Governments; continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral parliamentary forums where both sides are members.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested the Cambodian National Assembly Chairman to continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese-origin community to live stably, to have their legitimate rights and interests guaranteed, thereby making positive contributions to the socio-economic development of Cambodia and the friendly relations between the two countries; as well as closely coordinate in searching, repatriating and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed in Cambodia.
