Vietnam - Italy towards upgrading relations

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that Vietnam and Italy will aim to upgrade relations in the near future.

On the morning of April 12 local time, during an official visit to Italy, in Milan, Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Torino Sandra Scagliotti.

The National Assembly Chairwoman said that the official visit to Italy takes place in the context of Vietnam - Italy relations developing very positively after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and more than 10 years of implementing the Strategic Partnership framework.

The two countries cooperate effectively and comprehensively in many fields, from politics - diplomacy, trade - investment, culture, education - training, defense - security and expand cooperation to new fields such as science - technology, innovation, environment, climate change response.

Sharing activities during the visit, the National Assembly Chairman said that in the coming days there will be meetings and talks with the highest-ranking leaders of Italy.

Emphasizing that at the meetings, the two sides will exchange measures to promote comprehensive cooperation, deepen the Vietnam-Italy Strategic Partnership, towards upgrading relations in the coming time, the National Assembly Chairwoman also said that she would request the Italian side to continue to create conditions for agencies, organizations, and associations of the two countries to promote the role of bridge, promoting practical and effective cooperation.

Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Torino Sandra Scagliotti congratulated National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, who has just been trusted to continue to hold the position of Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, expressing her belief that under the leadership of General Secretary, President To Lam and high-level leaders who have just been consolidated, Vietnam will successfully implement strategic decisions, bringing the country into a new era of development on the basis of an independent and self-reliant economy, towards a happy life for the people.

Expressing gratitude to the country and people of Vietnam, Honorary Consul Sandra Scagliotti said that Vietnam is where she completed her studies from 1989 and it was the will and determination of the Vietnamese nation that became the inspiration for forming her political bravery and revolutionary ethics.

The big lesson she learned from Vietnam is: independence and freedom are never traded. Vietnam today has become a country of innovation, prosperity, peace and is actively promoting a better world for all people. Promoting the country and people of Vietnam has become a sacred duty for her.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam will never forget the valuable assistance of the Italian people for Vietnam in the struggle for national independence, national reunification and in the cause of building and developing the country.

Recognizing the specific proposals of Honorary Consul Sandra Scagliotti to continue promoting the image, country and people of Vietnam in the coming time, the National Assembly Chairwoman wished the Honorary Consul, the Honorary Consulate Office and friends of Italy to continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy in community activities and towards Vietnam, continue to cultivate friendship and act as an important bridge to promote cooperation between the two countries.
