On the afternoon of August 20, at the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, answering reporters' questions about the US administration naming more than 40 trade partners at risk of being exploited to avoid tariffs, including Vietnam, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang emphasized:
Vietnam advocates promoting healthy trade with partners on the basis of freedom, fairness, mutual benefit, in accordance with bilateral agreements, multilateral agreements as well as the regulations of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Vietnam has been and is focusing on building institutions, improving the capacity to implement legal frameworks and regulations against origin fraud in particular and trade fraud in general".
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Vietnam is determined to prevent origin fraud and illegal transit of goods.
According to Ms. Pham Thu Hang, in its international economic integration process, Vietnam has made strong international commitments, combating all trade fraud and cooperating closely to ensure strict implementation of commitments. Vietnam's efforts have been recognized by the international community.
We will continue to exchange views on US concerns in the spirit of building in accordance with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. Thereby, maintaining stable and mutually beneficial economic and trade relations between Vietnam and the US and at the same time contributing to building a transparent and healthy investment and business environment in Vietnam," the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
